Watching the women’s final. Looking at the lowest 10 rows and they look less than 1/2 filled. Disgraceful for a NC.
I get that PSU fans are deflated by the semis loss, but if you’re gonna host you gotta have better turnout.

They should never get to host again.

And where are the OSU fans — campus is 5 hours away

Very few people care about women's hockey, that is why it is half filled. It wasn't at capacity for the semi final with Penn State, only 5,176 with a capacity of 6,014. They have over 48,000 students on campus.

I looked back -- the last few years they have had about 4000 for the NC. Last time at PennSt they had 2000.
These dumb NCAA committees seem to be drawn to "lets grow the game by picking boonie locations," as opposed to "let's create a buzz by getting a big crowd in a popular location."

PennSt is such an awful location because it's near nothing, so if the home team doesn't make it, you're not going to get anyone. They should basically alternate between Minnesota/Wisconsin and something in the east like Albany/Worcester.

So true. Why not Vegas or NYC. Who the hell wants to go to State College? Hell, even Hartford would be better.

UConn would do a great job of hosting. We support women's sports, we have a great barn (giving props to Pegula too) and there is no reason why we could not. They may feel that TFIF is too small for a champtionaship, but I think at Ohio State for instance, they only played the regional final in the big barn, right? The regional semi was played in a hole. UConn should at least get a regional.

Regionals in women’s hockey go to the top 4 seeds. They are not predetermined like the men’s tournament.

One of the problems with the women's tournament is that spring break often interferes. In 2024 Clarkson had its band in Durham, but they were mostly alums and not many students in the stands. Likewise last weekend Clarkson men v QU. The Clarkson band AT Hamden was half its normal size. QU, at home, did not even have their band.

Well, that will have to change at some point. The B1G has a huge advantage in the age of NIL and after they monopolize the regionals for a few years the sport will wake up and make it fairer.

We could host the finals now then. Put them in the PBA and promote the heck out of them.

Why would that have to change? They have been doing that for the women's hoops tournament for years. If they aren't doing it for hoops they certainly aren't doing it for hockey.

Eastern schools are 0-5 vs western schools

Outscored 20-3 with 2 shutouts

No eastern team vs a western team has scored more than 1 goal

Quinnipiac loses 5-0 to North Dakota

North Dakota to Frozen Four

Eastern schools outscored 25-3 with 3 shutouts vs western schools in 6 games

This sounds very similar to the results that happened in women’s college hockey.
