Hey fellow Husky Hockey Fanatics, I thought it might be good idea to start a thread where we post about other games that affect UConn, both in HE and outside of HE. Kind of a one stop shopping thread for what is going on in Hockey that can affect our boys. Going forward, let’s post all non UConn game discussions here so they can easily be kept track of. Thanks all!

Last nights results. Three one goals games and two ties. Tight night. These teams all go at it again today.

It’s way too early but UConn is 7th in the Pairwise.

Minnesota is #1 in the polls but 23rd in the Pairwise.

NONE of our HE competitors took six points this weekend:

PC - 5
NE - 4
UML - 4
MM - 3
UMass- 3
BU - 2
Maine- 2
UNH - 1

BC and Vermont did not play HE games this weekend (unless you count BC's 1-5 loss to guess who?).

Is Merrimac supposed to be good this year?

They were picked to finish 8th in the preseason poll…for what it’s worth. We were picked to finish 7th.

UML 4 Vermont 0 To fill in the missing score.

Upset alert! Dominant win for PSU.

#14 PC sweeps #5 UMass this weekend.

Next weekend could be wild.

Finals…OMG Umess…4 loses in a row!

What has happened to the Yale hockey program?

They have scored 3 goals all season and have been shutout in the last 3 games. From 2016 National Champions to the bottom of college hockey.

I know this is a touchy subject on other boards, but it’s a perfect display of
UConn vs Connecticut

Pairwise/CHN/USCHO have us as Connecticut, while HE has us as UConn.

I know is says UConn on the jersey, but I like when we play Maine, Vermont, New Hamsphire, they play Connecticut, NOT UConn.
Heck, even UMass is called Massachusetts.

I know it was branding thing when Susan was here, but Mora is embracing Connecticut and with BE basketball, I think we should overall re-brand to “Connecticut” and drop the UConn.

Fridays Hockey East Action.

Other games of note:

Long Island 3 Ohio State 2
Michigan 4 Harvard 4
Omaha 3 Denver 0

Northeastern lost 4-2 tonight to Sacred Heart 4 straight losses for them.

If HE wants to expand to twelve teams, QU likely won't leave the friendly confines of the ECAC (too easy to qualify from ECAC to NCAAs), so go after SHU with its beautiful new arena. They would be a great travel partner for UConn.

Then HE should consider a "travel partnership" schedule similar to what the Ivy League does in basketball.

Every partnership travels to another partnership each HE Friday/Saturday, on a rotating schedule. Partners would be:

BU/BC
PC/Northeastern
Lowell/ Merrimack
UMass/UVM
UNH/Maine
UConn/SHU

If UConn plays at Lowell on Friday, SHU plays at Merrimack. Then on Saturday they switch. UConn plays at Merrimack, SHU at Lowell, etc. Cuts down on travel, gives each fan base back-to-back league games, promotes rivalries. Anyone familiar with Ivy league basketball understands what a road trip to Penn/Princeton means.

Merrimack had 7 consecutive minutes in the second period on the PP and their PP looked inept could barely get shots. Where was that against UConn? Merrimack got hit with a delay of game penalty for not coming out for the second period on time which was a first that I've ever seen.

BU might be a bit ornery (or broken) coming in on Sunday afternoon;

Right, it's the second time BU allowed 9 goals in a game this season. Early on they dropped one to Michigan 9-2.. But let's not make this about them. The Huskies have their own issues on defense lately so I'm hoping the week off was a return to fundamentals and the desire to fight for pucks and play a complete game. It would be fantastic to see that on Sunday...

That game was a gong show last night. However, BU's coaching staff made a huge error last night starting Commesso in net after he had mono last weekend. He was slow as hell to react all night and looked out of sorts. Given BU's backup is very solid - pitched a shutout in the Beanpot final and won @ Michigan in October - that was a big, big mistake playing him when he shouldn't have been out there.

I fully expect Duplessis to play in Hartford tomorrow, but if Drew starts you should be able to get an easy W.

Root for PC to win in OT.I think both teams would end up with 25 points.
We need to get back to business tomorrow afternoon, and that’s the bottom line.

Welp - this didn't age well, lol.

Commesso was solid vs UConn this past Sunday afternoon, though there were some close calls down 3-2 with UConn having pulled Sergeev for the extra attacker. BU had some puck luck, or perhaps UConn did not have it in the way it came earlier in the season.
