Other Hockey games (HE and non HE)

UNH beat Merrimack and UML this weekend. They look to be hot going into the stretch run. UConn had better bring their “A” game to Whittemore Center Arena this coming weekend.

Maine beat Merrimack today in overtime.

Uconn and Merrimack now have played 19 games.

Merrimack: 3rd place, 36 points
Remaining: BU x 2, Lowell x 2, Vermont (Home)

UConn: 4th place, 34 points
Remaining: UNH x 3, BC x 2

Merrimack has the more difficult remaining schedule.

No excuses for UConn not to finish 3rd.

Does anybody know what a Northeastern win/loss tonight does to our pairwise / strength of schedule?

College hockey news has a pairwise predictor. You select the future outcomes of games and see how the results would affect a team’s pairwise.

Forget Pairwise. Our chance to get an at-large NCAA bid is slim/none. Focus on a top-four HE finish to get a home-ice quarterfinal HE tourney game. The path to the NCAAs is through the HE tournament. Anything else is fantasyland.

Another important point in the PWR Probability Matrix, both Notre Dame and Michigan State have low, but not insignificant, chances of finishing in at-large position but being ineligible to a record below .500. That would increase UConn's chances of getting the at-large from a 15-16 spot.

Lowell beat Providence

UConn falls to 5th in Hockey East and currently out of hosting the 4/5 playoff game.

Lowell has played one less game.

Northeastern is likely to take the lead of the Hockey East standings tonight.

Northeastern could win the Hockey East regular season title and not qualify for the NCAA tournament.
