Merrimack had 7 consecutive minutes in the second period on the PP and their PP looked inept could barely get shots. Where was that against UConn? Merrimack got hit with a delay of game penalty for not coming out for the second period on time which was a first that I've ever seen.

Right, it's the second time BU allowed 9 goals in a game this season. Early on they dropped one to Michigan 9-2.. But let's not make this about them. The Huskies have their own issues on defense lately so I'm hoping the week off was a return to fundamentals and the desire to fight for pucks and play a complete game. It would be fantastic to see that on Sunday...

That game was a gong show last night. However, BU's coaching staff made a huge error last night starting Commesso in net after he had mono last weekend. He was slow as hell to react all night and looked out of sorts. Given BU's backup is very solid - pitched a shutout in the Beanpot final and won @ Michigan in October - that was a big, big mistake playing him when he shouldn't have been out there.

I fully expect Duplessis to play in Hartford tomorrow, but if Drew starts you should be able to get an easy W.

Welp - this didn't age well, lol.

Commesso was solid vs UConn this past Sunday afternoon, though there were some close calls down 3-2 with UConn having pulled Sergeev for the extra attacker. BU had some puck luck, or perhaps UConn did not have it in the way it came earlier in the season.

Why wouldn't Quinnipiac leave ECAC for Hockey East? Here's why (Pairwise ratings at this very moment).

QU (ranked #2) has only two ECAC opponents ranked in the top 35 (Harvard @ 9, Cornell @ 10). Hockey East has eight: BU @ 8, Merrimack @ 11, UConn @ 14, PC @ 20, BC @ 21, UMass @ 24, UML @ 26, Northeastern @ 35.

Rand Pecknold, year in and year out, has to worry about two teams.... Cornell and Harvard, to win his league. Try that in Hockey East.

BU currently destroying UMass 5-1.

BU definitely the best team in the conference and a Frozen Four contender.

BC is coming on strong too.

Last night Sacred Heart lost 3-2 in OT to # 19 BC. Connor Hutchinson got the first goal in the new arena to put Sacred Heart up 1-0. Then BC scored two straight goals and SHU tied the game and then BC won it. Cant wait for Friday's game vs Holy Cross on Saturday at 7pm on SNY. Go Pioneers!

UMass is talented but young. They still have talented players, Morrow, Ufko, Connors, Dyck, O’Hara, but they are younger than previous seasons.

Actually, the HE preseason coaches' poll had UConn at #7, with 70 votes; one vote behind BC and Lowell, tied for fifth with 71 votes. UMass was #3. Do we think this weekend's back-to-back with UMass is crucial? If we win Friday at Amherst, Saturday's crowd better be LOUD or we have no business claiming to be a Hockey East venue.
