California is whooping Ohio State 10-1 in the 5th inning. I was not blown away by Cal last weekend (we were unlucky with loud contact in that one) so the lopsided score is surprising.

Northeastern beat USF 13-8 today to improve to 7-1. They haven't scored less than 6 runs so far this year and are averaging 11.1 runs a game. BC is off to a similar start. Neither has played anyone of note yet but if they continue their strong play, our RPI will be very thankful.

Northeastern swept USF on the road today, 8-7. Only 1 hitter in their lineup is batting under .351.

Wake committed 7 errors today after playing flawless defense to start the year. Go figure.

Coastal’s stadium and Georgetown’s stadium are tied for the most ridiculous bandbox UConn baseball has played in IMO.

Last yrs opponents seemingly all had down years and put major pressure on us to consistently win, which fortunately we did.
This year, the schedule is not only upgraded, but the schools we consistently play seem to be on the upswing. That is good for us and hopefully our RPI.

Northeastern, BC and Columbia are playing very well. Fortunately we are winning in recruiting right now, but who knows how future MLB drafts will play into that.

Ohio State continues to play well (Cal debacle aside) against a tough schedule. Wanted 3 in that series but 2 might not be the end all be all.

Niagara finished off Oregon in an FDU-Purdue level upset.

The BC Golden Eagles were deflowered by FSU today by a score of 19-8. BC turning that series around would help our RPI.

No. Upsets in baseball can’t be the level of an upset in basketball. Because of the importance of starting pitching, it’s much easier for a lousy team to beat a great team on any day.

I've said it a number of times in the past on these baseball threads. Yes, agree that "upsets" in baseball happen more frequently than in probably any other college sport. It is just the nature of baseball, the less talented team is more likely to win a game in that sport than in say college basketball. In a 3 game series, it is hardly unusual for the underdog in baseball to win at least 1 game, or for that matter, to actually take the series.

Rutgers beat Michigan 13-0 and is on a nice winning streak now (including a win at Maryland).

BC starting to fade a little - Duke got 'em 6-4 today.

UNC Wilmington beat TCU 14-6. No idea how TCU is ranked at this point.

The University of Maine is starting to look like they are getting back to their old standards. They had their 10 game winning streak snapped yesterday, losing 18-17 (!) to the University of Binghamton. What's that about scoring being up everywhere? That was the second time they've scored 10 or more runs and lost (25-10 at Maryland earlier this year), and they have scored 10 or more runs 12 times this year in 29 games. Not a good year to be a pitcher.

Florida State had lost 22 of 24 before winning a series finale against Virginia Tech. One of those losses was to North Florida.

The ND coach is really good and should turn them around, but rough start for them…

Seton Hall 13 Xavier 2. Wow.

That's baseball for you.

Creighton beat Butler 6-3 in 11 innings today. Creighton now is in 1st place in the Big East, a half game ahead of UConn.
