Simultaneous thread, just posted the same thing. I've never seen an injury like that in ANY sport

I saw Theismann's injury and it sounds similar. I will be avoiding the video replays which seem to be plentiful on the Net already

worse if only due to the fact that you could see blood and bone, no socks or pants covering it, it was horrible.

Some are saying the break happened because of the raised level of the floor around the bench area. Ware was trying to stay on the same level to avoid hitting the raised level. Don't know why they need a separation between the bench players/seats and the court. Bench Player seating should not be at a lower level then the court.

I'll pass on watching the video.

I cannot watch those types of injuries. I broke and dislocated my ankle when I was 19. I resisted looking at it until I was in the ER on the x-ray table. When I sat up and saw my ankle at a nearly 90 degree angle pointing away from its normal position to the outside of my body I nearly puked. It was not a compound fracture, but the lack of blood made it no less nauseating.

I remember seeing Theisman's injury on the news. I didn't look away fast enough - and then of course they had to show it multiple times over, in super slow motion. I had to turn the tv off. But I saw enough to leave a lasting impression.

There is a reason I didn't purse a career in the medical field...

How could it be worse?? T's was a complete compound tib/fib IIRC

(Not a challenge, just an honest question.....)

Broken bone in two places, wouldn't be surprised if he has torn ligaments as well as it looked like he dislocated his knee. Also looked worse because it was on a landing, rather than someone falling into it. Theisamann's didn't make me turn away, this one definitely did.. Just my opinion though

He would have landed the way he landed regardless of the court. His body was twisted in the air, which is never good. While I do think raised courts are stupid and ridiculous, I don't think the court played any part in his injury

So bad even the players on the bench could not bear to see it (23sec mark). Would not wish that on my least favorite player.....

That is not good there is no reason that leg should have exploded like that. Something is really off.

Just biomechanics Ice.. His legs facing a different direction than his upper body spells disaster

It's a good opinion. I was sick looking at it. the poor kid. And those poor kids who witnessed it. Lord, they are going to have some bad dreams I am sure.

He does have really skinny legs as well, which doesn't help
wow.... listening to you play doctor on this thread is a funny, but its also scary given how far off base you are in your "diagnosis" of the injury.

stalking my posts? creepy. Actually not far off at all, I've had plenty of discussions about it with anatomists and doctors, but thanks for your time.
