But, how will that help if the Regents, who hold the power and the purse in Austin, are all hand-picked, Texas A&M alumni, political allies of Governor Perry?

Probably won't, but it would give him an ally and a buffer. The story about Saban owing money above is, at least, partially true. I know first hand that Saban has a couple bad real estate losses in Baton Rouge. Some bigtime development deals (like Blue Back Sq in West Hartford) that went completely belly up.

If he's really trying to raise cash in a couple of ways, selling this house will help a bit.

Makes you wonder why a guy who coaches Alabama, and has zero ties to anyone in the state of Georgia would drop a couple of million on lakefront castle that he couldn't possibly live in more than a couple of weeks a year.

Pasqualoni has been rumored to be in Austin. UT will not go forward until they hit rock bottom, so it appears to all be part of a master plan. Plus, PP has NFL experience and was the winningest coach in the Big East.

If Mack is gone, the list to replace him is pretty short. I could see Jim Mora leaving UCLA for UT. Maybe Saban would leave, but he'd be seen as even more of a mercenary. At some point you do think about your legacy.

UConn needs to get our man and then these stories don't affect us.

I've been seeing Narduzzi mentioned by Texas fans as someone they would want to go after... then again Texas fans are awful.

I've seen some of them argue that Texas will get either mike tomlin or jim harbaugh to coach. Others are saying that possibly the best coach in the sport (Saban) would be a bad hire because he is kinda old and might only win like three national titles instead of the 10 that Texas obviously deserves because Texas. They have this crazy entitlement.

.-.
The idea that Narduzzi could land the Texas HC job with NO previous HC experience is ridiculous! Texas will have the cream of the crop of current head coaches applying for their position, IF Brown is no longer there. They will not have to, nor want to, take the chance on hiring the latest hot coordinator.

Exactly, and the legacy of a guy who won NCs at 3 schools would be unprecedented. It would cement Nick Saban as the greatest football coach in college history. No one cares about that mercenary crap, it is a job.

Nonsense. Coaches who jump around are never thought of as highly as those who have long term sustained success at one school. He's a HOF coach regardless, but at this point, MSU hates him, LSU hates and him and if he moves, Alabama will hate him. He can be there with Bear Bryant or he can be just a shady guy who chased the money and crapped on those loyal to him. It doesn't matter if it is fair or not. That is the reality of the perception when the coach leaves (if he is fired, it is different).

“@KirkHerbstreit: Breaking News....Nick Saban has agreed to a multi year contract extension to STAY at Alabama! Details to come out soon!!”

Man I'm really tired of ESPN. All week they had sources pumping Mack Brown retiring and Nick Saban going there like it was a done deal. They really are the TMZ of sports.
