You don't put out credible leaks that Mack Brown is gone unless he will be gone. He may not have agreed to it yet, but it's pretty clear he's gone.

The body of work says he is gone: Last 4 years: 26-20, 18-17 in Big 12. Finished ranked once in last 4 years. This is a big problem for Texas with Texas A&M doing well and in the SEC and the Big 12 having been diminished with all of the defections.

This is Texas and Mack Brown is not Joe Paterno who built Penn St football.

Looks like there is not an agreement with Mack Brown to step down at Texas after all.

When reached by text moments ago, Brown refuted the story to Horns247.

"I haven't seen (the) article," Brown wrote.

"I'm in Florida recruiting. If I had decided to step down I sure wouldn't be killing myself down here. I have not decided to step down."

This should help give UConn and Warde the time he needs to finalize things with Narduzzi, IF that's the direction he wants to head in!

All just words. This is just UT trying to stay ahead of the story so they can announce on their own terms.

Also, if Mack is leaving, it can ONLY mean they got Saban, IMO. I don't see him leaving/being forced to retire for any other coach save maybe Jon Gruden.

It's Texas politics. The Board of Regents wants to kick out the president, who is Mack's biggest supporter. The Guv, Rick Perry is an Aggie who has been cutting UT's funds and probably wants to shake things up. If Pres. Powers loses his power then the other regents will push hard for Saban... or someone else.

He is out. He is 26-20 and 18-17 in the Big 12 over the past 4 years and ranked once at end of the season. Texas is not used to being second fiddle to Texas A&M and that's is where they are now. Heck, they are 1-3 against BAYLOR! in their last 4 games. Mack is 62 and it's been 4 years to turn it around and they will not wait any longer.

Hope Mack fly's back from Florida before they cancel his debit card. Looks like ESPN will be getting a new analyst if true.

Anyone think that this would impact us if Warde chooses Narduzzi. Maybe makes him(Narduzzi) want to wait a bit before giving the OK to see if other dominos fall? He is my choice based on what he's done and where he is in his career. Not real impressed with Lembo. Would want TJ in no from Narduzzi.

After researching this lead myself, I found another UConn twist in the Saban to Texas rumors. The person that started this fire storm from InsideTexas goes by the handle "Jesus Shuttlesworth"

So now he's saying that Nick Saban is $20M in debt due to commercial real estate investments made with LSU and Bama alums, Texas is going to give Saban $20M under the table and then pay him $8M per year on top of that, and Saban is leaving Bama because his retirement plan sucks and he's mad at LSU and Bama alums for steering him wrong?

Does anyone actually believe this crap? JS is like Penthouse Forum. Everyone knows it's mostly bullshit, but if it happens to give you a you might not care.

JesusShuttlesworth said:
Knowing full well that any numbers I throw out will aid and abet the enemy, I will say the minimum. Again, full disclosure, I'm reporting a story that seems to be taking on a life of it's own but I feel it's important to post now so this website is credited for the work. To that end, I'll also be posting my real identity tomorrow and I will email all subsequent stories to the various media outlets including but not limited to ESPN, CBS Sports, etc.

Here's what I got.

In talking to various sources plugged into the Alabama and Texas sides, it seems Nick Saban is roughly $20 million in the hole due to investments with LSU and Alabama alums. These investments are predominantly in the commercial real estate space. For his trouble, Nick Saban is not a happy camper with these two alumni bases and has a hole in his retirement plan that Mark Ingram could run through. Additionally, I'm told Texas and the Longhorn Foundation have "passed the hat" to provide a dollar amount up front that nearly makes Nick Saban whole after these defunct investments. Call it the Lamarr Houston/Roy Miller investment strategy. The mechanism used to fund this "bonus" will be off the books in order to make the total compensation package more politically palatable when it's officially announced. Texas does not want to be perceived as the Yankees and again, I don't want to help negotiations with enemy.

As far as conventional compensation, look for the number to be right around eight million a year for six years with a two-year option. This structure makes it more acceptable to the BOR and the academics in the school. Don't tell them how much the athletic department contributes to the general fund because they won't listen. Just know that the football men understand how the perception game is played.

Trust me, I understand that there's always a counter offer in these deals, but I'm told that the Bama president does not want to get in a bidding war against Texas because she doesn't want it to seem like Bama is a semi-pro team. Again, this is the academic's mindset at work. She's, after all, Bill Powers' peer or at least is attempting to be. Add this item to the fact that Bama's Athletic Director Bill Battle has gotten sideways with Saban, and it doesn't bode well for the Tide. One final piece is Chancellor Witt.

Dr. Witt is the only ally that Saban has at the administrative level at Bama and he happens to be a Texas guy. Yes, Dr. Witt has a soft spot in his heart for Texas, and has told folks close to the Texas AD that he thinks Saban is headed to Austin.

If Saban is announced as the Texas head football coach in the next few days, fans will be in line to enjoy an historic change in culture and football operations in general.

Like you, I will enjoy the process.

In other words, I will look forward to Nick Saban's process.

At first, I would assume that Texas would be one of the one or two coaching slots outside of the NFL that Saban would leave Alabama for. After reading this story about the state of U Texas politically, if it’s true, Saban may not want to get anywhere near Austin…

They are letting him pick his own admin. He is bringing the Head of the UA system (Robert Witt) with him to replace the Texas President.
