He "apparently" hurt his elbow last night after barely being touched. Rolling around like he got shot.

I'm not looking to debate if he got fouled or not there. It's clear he has a "highlight film" of flops an hour long. I am sitting here confused as to why he does it?

He can draw contact and get to the line any time he wants. He's built like a football player. He's clearly one of the most talented players ever to play the game. Does he not realize how bad it makes him look and what it does to his legacy? Does he just love the attention of making the game stop and having everyone fawn all over him to see if he's alright? Half the time his own teammates don't even go over to him and it seems they're sick or bored of it.

Why does he do this?!

Had a teammate in college who I played hoops with, but he was also on the soccer team, so you can imagine where I’m going with this. He went down one game like he got shot, it was after he had the ball stripped from him. I stopped near a ref and he said “oh boy your guy is hurt bad”. I said no he’s not let’s get the ball in bounds, he’ll be at full speed as soon as I throw it into him.

He was! There’s LeBron!
 
Unfortunately, he's not alone. Luka cries about a foul or a non foul on almost every single possession. But to be fair almost every player does. The NBA with their ridiculous "gather step" rule. I do not know any "highest level" of professional sport that changes rules to make the game easier. I used to LOVE the NBA, now, I don't watch a single full game until maybe the playoffs. College is where Basketball is the best.

There's crying about a foul.....and there's blatant faking that you're hurt. SGA draws contact and initiates fouls better than anyone in the league....but he doesn't act like he got hit with a 2x4 and is critically injured.

LJ is a minority owner of Fenway Sports Group, which means he's a minority owner of Liverpool FC. My guess is he's been learning new tricks.
 
Its not just LeBron. Just about every player cries foul after every little skin on skin contact. Its been leaking into the college game too.

Playing up to the refs like its soccer has become part of the game. The NBA has stressed freedom of movement and the players and refs have ran with it.

I don't get it either. Kobe called it. It used to be you never wanted to show that you got beat or hurt. This is just one reason why Jordan was so much better. I mean, did he ever flop?!!

I’ve also seen the argument made that he legitimately gets fouled almost every single time he goes to the basket, and the “highlight film” to go with it (i.e, no call after no call where he was clearly fouled). Since he’s so capable of handling contact and physicality, he’s been forced into the habit of displaying how he was hit. A result of this is the many times he acts hit without being hit. Not saying it’s right or wrong, but it’s a solid counter to the broader LeFlop criticism.
 
Most of the defense so far has been the need to exaggerate the contact to ensure a foul.

Does that mean you need to roll around on the court when the other 9 guys are at the other end, causing a stoppage in play followed by 3 minutes of you "recovering" enough to limp off the court....only to enter the game full speed at the next stop?

I don't ever remember Jordan flopping. But he did complain about every call in existence. Pretty much every player does, and it's one of the reasons, for me, that the NBA is not consistently enjoyable to watch. It gets old watching an amazing talent like Luka cry and complain after a call, and not even get back on defense.

On the Lebron side, I have no idea why he's become such a flopper. Dude is one of the most talented basketball players in the history of life, and he's constantly rolling around on the ground.

There's a tech and a fine, I believe. But I feel like only the most completely ridiculous ones get called. For as bad as Lebron's are, he gets the call a decent amount.
