Since the Rent's opening, UConn has prohibited noisemakers at football games, It has been a UConn policy only as they are not prohibited when the Rent hosts high school games. Last season, the public address announcer started telling the fans to shake their keys.
Today the dynamic changed. Sitting across the aisle from me were parents & midget league players from the Watertown-Oakville league. One of the tykes was enthusiastically ringing a cowbell.
Has UConn rescinded the noisemaker prohibition?

I stomped the bleachers for years on 3rd down, now I tap the bleacher with a small rock. Strange that it makes more noise than shaking keys.

We need more noise and the security is far from airtight. I am 50% confident you could get a marching band drum thru.

I’ll tell you what, when the weather drops below 50 F and you get a hoard of drunk idiots to stomp those bleachers, it gets LOUD. Get some steel toes and let a rip.

There’s a few bleachers in 107 that are loose, those things sing when stomped properly.

@coachcap Not a UConn policy but one of the NCAA.

While I agree with you 100% as I reach behind in our section and play the aluminum bass drum...
I wish for the days when buttocks sitting there would not allow it. That and they used their vocal chords. 😉

Are noise makers allowed at college football games?

AI Overview

No, general artificial noisemakers like cowbells, thundersticks, air horns, and clickers are generally prohibited at college football games due to NCAA rules and stadium-specific policies designed to maintain a safe and respectful environment. While some exceptions exist and conference policies can vary, fans should always check the specific carry-in policy for the stadium they are visiting before the game.

Why Noisemakers Are Prohibited
Noisemakers can be used as "irritants" that can disrupt the game or harass opponents and other fans, which goes against sportsmanship.

Certain noisemakers, particularly those that use compressed air or are mechanical, are banned to ensure play isn't interrupted.

  • NCAA and Conference Rules:
The NCAA prohibits artificial noisemakers and electronic amplifiers, and individual conferences, such as the Big Ten, have policies that ban them.
