What unusual sandwiches do you like? Don't mean the usual, hamburgers, club, or grill cheese sandwich. While probably not considered unusual today I made a Grilled Peanut Butter & Jelly with Banana Sandwich. While not bad, don't think I'll make one again. Just looking for ideas to try. Thanks

I've always like peanut butter and cheese - cheddar, jack, muenster, swiss, havarti. Some folks think that's normal, some think it's weird. I also like peanut butter and honey.

Two faves from my younger 'what me worry?' days: peanut butter and bacon; fried bologna with mustard (unless you buy extra thick slices at the deli, you need to weight down or press the slices to minimize cupping).

I used to have PB and banana now and then as a kid. I never did grill it though.

Nutella and bananas go together very well, too.

One of my favorite sandwiches is salami, cream cheese and sprouts. The sprouts make it health food! ;)

White bread, butter, sugar and banana....about 50 years ago was the last time. My most risqué adventure: hamburger bun, mayo, sardines (in water or light oil),cold slaw and mustard.

Buttered bread with thick raw sweet onion slices. Also, during the summer I like garden fresh tomato slices with Miracle Whip. Another I like is turkey, bacon, and avacodo slices.

When I was a poverty stricken college student I'd go to Wendy's and get a small chili and fill up the bag with crackers and ketchup packets and have ketchup sandwiches for lunch several days a week.

At last a post truly close to my stomach.
Connecticut Venison, rare and thin sliced with sweet peppers, lettuce & tomato, olive oil and vinegar. And a nice glass of my home made red wine (Amarone, Montepulciano, e.g.) This goes real well with a national championship.

It's not so much a sandwich, but a piece of good bread with a thick slice of havarti cheese on it. Stick it in the toaster and broil it till the havarti is nicely melted. Learned to NOT get the lowfat havarti. Totally delish...

Deep fried fish on a grill cheese on rye with tartar and onion. Can also be done as a wrap.

Some of my favorites:
• peanut butter and jelly on eggo waffles
• Something we called the Wayward Special: Grilled cheese with a hamburger, onions, tomatoes, and ketchup
• fresh tomatoes seasoned with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic & oregano with super-sharp, fall-apart provolone cheese on Italian bread.

When I was a kid my mother occasionally made peanut butter and honey
sandwiches for my school lunch bag.

I haven't had one in nearly 70 years, but I remember them as being pretty
tasty.

Is cream cheese and jelly unusual?
That was a lunch option in elementary school.

I have to admit I never actaually got around to trying one, but the great Brother Dave Gardner invented the archetypical Southern Sandwich in his monologue on why Little David deserves recognition as the first Rock and Roll artist ("Cause he taken the rock and rollllled the giant!?) It was a "Okre and stewed tomato and black eyed pea on light bread sandwich, so's you have to lift and eat fast lessen if fall through the cruse." If any of y'all try that, lemme know how it comes out, ok?

Olive butter. Blend olives and olive oil to a buttery consistency, spread on bread.

Somebody already mentioned this but peanut butter and bacon, for me on toast. But I only have it for breakfast, so is it really a sandwich?

As for sandwiches, nothing really strange, I love Reubens and Cubans.

Although my son used to eat salsa and mustard sandwiches.
