UNLV sophomore guard Kendall Smith plans to transfer. Smith did not travel with the team for today’s game at Arizona State. #lvrj @RJ_Sports

Believe we were in his top 3 at one point, and he always liked UConn. Not sure if there would be mutual interest, though. He's from the West Coast, so I wouldn't be surprised if he returns closer to home.

Article from Duffy back in 2012 on his recruitment and UConn: http://blog.ctnews.com/uconnbasketball/2012/05/02/recruiting-spotlight-kendall-smith/

His VerbalCommits page shows UCLA as his only other major offer at the time of his recruitment. If KO wants him, should be pretty easy to attain.

For sure. But he also shot under 50% from the free throw line as a freshman. I think we've got the "guards with questionable shooting ability" market cornered at this point.
Can't argue with that- personally, I'm just hoping we get another ball handler for the 2015 class, whether it's a transfer, recruit or 5th year senior.

When you flop out of UNLV, you head down, not up.

Not that we should be harping on other schools APR, but it seems to me that not a single guy they recruit ever graduates from there. Guys transfer in and transfer out every year. Seems silly that you can maintain a passing score when no one who goes there actually graduates. Guess its kind of along the lines of the Kentucky model in that it somehow gets the job done with regards to staying eligible.

Not much production in more than a season at UNLV. Would rather take a chance on a kid out of high school.
