OT: UConn softball wins the Big East Championship (merged)

I didn’t get to watch this one. My wife went to Florida, so she follows their softball team.

I’ll definitely be following them in the tournament. Go UConn!!

Is that the regular season championship or the tournament championship? Last year they won the season but lost the tournament title. By losing that game, they did not get into the NCAA tournament. I am hoping for the best if this is regular season, but they deserve to get in the NCAAs, but only getting one team in this league is not at all fair. Go Huskies and keep playing like you have all season and get to that national championship tournament because I know you will make all of UConn nation proud.

Tournament championship. Those women will surprise some people in the Tourney—they can mash!!

Do we know when and who they will play in round one of the NCAA tourney?
Is it likely to be televised?

Pitching is solid as well, but they definitely are power hitting team. For those who haven't been following after a very rough start to the season the baseball team is killing it as well, mostly on the strength of their bats.

The baseball team is 19 – 1 in its last 20 games.

I was happy to see that the Championship game was on FS2. UConn has the chance to go far in the postseason even though the odds are that they will be playing their regional and super regional games on the road, most likely against SEC teams.
But they are from UConn!!!!
Swerve: personally I hope that Oklahoma gets the five peat because in the last 10 years, they have been the UConn of softball. Jinx
Swerve over.

The NCAA seems to give all the SEC a top 16 seed :) (which means they host), so it'll almost surely be somewhere south.

Ok ok, maybe a couple of ACC and B1G schools get to host too.

UConn is 60th in the RPI so they'll either be the 3rd or 4th (out of 4) teams in their regional.
Best chance to play 'close' to home is probably @VaTech, but since they'll be flying no matter what, probably headed somewhere further south.

Congrats, UConn Softball team!!

As I am gearing up to watch College Softball Selection Sunday.

LSU is the overall #10 seed. The other teams at the regional are Nebraska and SE Louisiana.

so they made it up to the 3 spot in the regional!
RPI: 4 LSU / 24 Neb / 60 UConn / 74 SE La

SEC gets 9 of the seeds plus 5 other bids. Mizzou only SEC team not making it.
ACC - 3 seeds, 6 other
B1G - 2 seeds, 6 other
B12 - 2 seeds, 3 other
AAC - 2 bids
all other conferences - 1 bid

UConn most likely will face Jordy Bahl vs Nebraska. She is a 2-time National Champion with Oklahoma and IMHO, one of the top two pitchers in the NCAA. But she can be beat...

SEC took 7 of the top 8 overall seeds! FSU the only interloper.

Missouri likely missed only because of their sub-.500 record. Their RPI was plenty high enough (35).

I have seen a bit of the actual World Series the last couple of years.
Oklahoma is just fabulous...especially when Bahl pitched. I have no
idea why she transferred to Nebraska...is that her home?

Wondering [from ignorance]: are the sub-regionals one and out...or 2 of 3?

3:00 Friday...will be a wonderful challenge...wouldn't miss it...on ESPN...correct?
