I think Amore has done reasonably well - I do agree with the original poster about the typos. If the Courant isn't going to pay an editor, Amore has to do a better job of proof-reading his stuff.

Somewhat off-topic... there's another Courant writer's blog (not sports) that is absolutely embarrassing for a professional journalist. Nearly every sentence has a typo. I understand that the budget is bare bones, but Good Lord, what does it take to re-read two or three paragraphs before clicking on post?

It seems the hardest working writer on the UConn beat is Pat Eaton-Robb of the AP. She authored the Manuel interview that's popped up everywhere recently.

"She" looks rather manly?? ;)

Somehow I don't see the beat writers for Michigan covering their beat in the same manner.

I don't watch much of College Gameday anymore, but I was under the impression that Desmond Howard is a decent contributor. Must be resting on his laurels as a Heisman Trophy Winner and Super Bowl MVP.
Whatever the heck his name is. Such a worthless writer I couldn't even get his name right.

Then stop clicking on Courant.com. No on is forcing you to. John Silver seems to do a decent job and the kid from the Daily Campus tweets incessantly.

As the beat writer at the State's most heavily circulated newspaper, covering the State's Flagship University's football team, I think Mr. Conner (See how easy it is to at least appear respectful?) could do a better job at covering the team. However, he is not the only game in town and I, for one, have no issue accessing other sources for information.

Jim Fuller @ New Haven Register does a good job as well. He went to all three All Star games where in-coming UConn football recruits were playing.

Dave Borges seems to do a decent job on the basketball side as well.

Can't count on just one source anymore and whether people like it or not - more breaking news comes out through Twitter well before it ever hits print media. Times are changing 140 characters @ a time.

There's not much left for these guys. Skills camps, The Hartford Pro Am, summarizing the recruiting situation. Annoying the AD over Season Ticket sales. Facility updates. Injury updates. Playing cheerleader. Some of the atheletes are good pimps and get all their stuff out there. Ask Jacobs about the limitations on student access......

If you're talking to me, don't you think I'd have gotten his name right if I was clicking his stuff there?

I think you should get the name right of the person about whom you are referring, whether it is to be critical or not.

I'll extend this to the football coverage too.

The Courant's sports editorial staff has made a conscientious decision to de-emphasize beat reporting of UConn sports. No other explanation for the consistently bland, generic coverage.

I no longer look at the Courant for any breaking news regarding UConn sports, any analysis or inside information. The AP coverers UConn as much as the Courant.

Totally agree. About two years ago, I email the football clown asking about UConn's trying to attain AAU status. He replied that this was a good question and would look into it and get back to me. Still waiting. In the meantime, UConn has joined the Whalers in the minor leagues.
