OT: The Song Game

Stagger Lee, Hugh Laurie

Had to go contemporary as not to tread on @RichZ's blues territory
Well, you've now forced me to go places I did not wish to tread

I give you...

Laurie Berkner - Victor Vito.

It was either this or another version of Stagger Lee.

Brilliant. Apparently the album that was from won many awards.

Time for some flamenco...

El Vito, Josef Mazan & Keiko Murakami
EDIT: The vid for the above wouldn't post, so went to this:

El vito - Moreno Palmisano

And now you guys have forced me to reach into mid-fifties group harmony, which I've mostly been avoiding in favor of blues.
El Dorados - Bim Bam Boom.

You didn't try hard enough - El Dorado Blues was right there for the picking!

Anyway, since I can't use that due to the plurals/singular thing...

Bim Bam (Shabbat Shalom), Jason Dinder

But it's not in my collection. I only post stuff that is at least on my MP3 player, if not a DVD or vinyl.

Well now that you're aware of it, you can add it :)

Good for you though. I'd guess I only "own" about 85% of what I've posted (but all the Replacements stuff!)

She's The One, World Party

This is the original, not the Robbie Williams remake that hit it big on the charts. Interesting backstory on that...
Drifters (Robins) - The World is Changing

This is NOT any of the various combinations of vocalists who made up the Drifters for the decade plus they recorded for Atlantic and its subsidiaries. It is actually the Robins -- the west coast group that eventually spawned the Coasters, but which was an established entity in the world of R&B, and had been for at least 5 years when the label decided that for this one release, they would be called the Drifters. The 'real' Drifters had just broken big with a #1 (R&B chart) release a few months earlier.
Anyway, feel free to match off either group name, if you'd care to.

Gladys Knight & THE Pips - Midnight Train to Georgia
The Pips - Every Beat of My Heart

They were still just the Pips when they had their first big hit, with a cover of a song that the Royals (soon to become Hank Ballard and the Midnighters) had a minor R&B hit with 6 years earlier. It's since been covered by everyone from Rod Stewart to James Brown
