“Isn’t that a DARB!”I don't think I've seen Blotto but my father insists that the best movie in the history of cinema is Laurel & Hardy's "Sons of the Desert". I've watched it several times - it's pretty great.

Michael Clayton and The Verdict are both favorites of mine. That kind of quality doesn’t come around that often, and for Hitchcock Rear Window and Vertigo.Wife was talking about Cohen's testimony today and his role as a "fixer", and I immediately thought of a movie I will watch every single time it's on, but which I didn't include on my list: Michael Clayton. Tom Wilkinson was amazing in that. And I love the final confrontation scene between Swinton and Clooney.
Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail
"...and nobody's any the wiser!"
There are so many classic quotes and scenes from Sons of the Desert.
Sons of the Desert was a real classic but my favorite Laurel and hardy films were (previously mentioned) Blotto and The Music Box. Watching those two trying to deliver a piano made me laugh so much my stomach hurt.
Side Note: There was a Laurel and Hardy fan club out in Somers, CT but I believe they disbanded or merged with another "tent". Laurel & Hardy fan clubs
Oh that's interesting - when we first moved to CT in 1986 we moved to Westport because my dad was working for IBM in Somers. I'll have to ask if he knew about that.
Yeah he worked in Somers NY - I didn't notice it said CT.I’m pretty sure you didn’t move to Westport for a job your father got in Somers CT. They are like an hour and 40 minutes from each other on a good day. Plus IBM... Somers NY.
I vowed when I started this to try and confine the proceedings to UConn days off. As I am a slave to principle, it will be Monday at the earliest now.Let’s wrap this up @Mano brackets due tomorrow.
While we wait; are films as important as they were in the past. Are we looking at another form of art where the best days are behind us?
Is John Steinbeck's book, "The Grapes Of Wrath" any less important now than since they made the movie? While we wait; are films as important as they were in the past. Are we looking at another form of art where the best days are behind us?
