Better sandwich

This whole conversation reminds me that term "hard roll" means a whole different thing here in CA. When I moved here 35 years ago, I asked someone where they had good hard rolls . The person replied, like old bread? I didn't know what else to call them, that's what people called them my whole life. Here they're mostly called Kaiser rolls, sometimes just sandwich rolls. Now that I think of it, I don't think I've had a REALLY good hard roll in decades. Something to add to the Food Tour list for my next visit east.
I grew up in Stamford eating hard rolls from JJ Cassone Bakery in Port Chester, NY, which has been pumping out breads since 1910. I lived in Houston from 1999-2002 and once I asked for a sandwich on a hard roll. The confused look on the guy behind the counter taught me to never use the term “hard roll” in Texas again.

CT cannot be two capitals: pick pizza or college hoops! :)

In any event, Connecticut is the capital of nothing. It is the home of Storrs which is the college basketball capital of world.

It is also the home of New Haven, which has some of the best pizzas around. The Connecticut legislature deciding to dub Connecticut the "capitals" of a half dozen or so random things just dilute the Storrs message.

Lox is not appealing at all, so bacon egg cheese wins by default.

BEC on an everything everything bagel (shoutout Olmo) is the daily driver. Lox bagel is the weekender/special occasion. Can't have it too often or it'll lose its appeal.

Then it's breakfast burrito any time I'm down south or out west.

Clicked on this thread hoping to read about Ronnie vs. Mike Pearlman. I say Pearlman never touched the bagel.

Tremendous bagels in Fort Lauderdale at Goldberg Bagel . They have been in business for 40 years here. I think they were originally from Brooklyn. Wonderful nova and white fish
post #20 ... regular at Oakland Park, and stumbled across the newer location (with A&S Deli) on Federal Highway earlier this year

Hard Rolls or Portuguese Rolls don’t exist in AZ
Good Bagels are very difficult to find as is a good doughnut or pizza .
But I spend at least 5-6 weeks in Ct
I usually train for the trip and like to lose at least 5 lbs before I leave
Then I only have to lose 5 lbs when I return home.to get back to my original weight

BEC bagel is goat but I can eat smoked salmon amd cream cheese for breakfast every day. Prefer it open faced on a crostini style bread. No need to ruin it with onions. Adding capers is a nice change of pace.

Costco has very good smoked salmon under their Kirkland brand in a double pack, 12 oz each, 1 pack can go in freezer. Not cheap at $24 but also not 50- $70 a pound.

I'd agree pigs are disgusting and, to be honest, most animals we eat are gross if you really look at them.

I'm more coming from the fact that lox is a super fishy taste in your mouth with a nice hot coffee and a recipe for singing the eyebrows off of anyone you talk to the rest of that morning.
It's an acquired taste, never really thought much I just ate it without any thought. Growing my grandparents used to make it all the time. Haven't had it in a while.

Everything toasted dark with scallion. BEC SPK on a Cassone hard roll. When I'm at my sisters in Jersey my BIL has a spot for a pork roll egg and cheese across from the New Providence (or Chatham, i don't pay attention) train station that's sick
