See Fishy's post aboveIf he's the coach in waiting why does he keep applying for other jobs? Serious question.
It sure worked out for us...... the whole concept of coach in waiting i think is terrible and counterproductive
Tell that to Howie, Dave and Tom.It sure worked out for us.
Tell that to Howie, Dave and Tom.
I don't think Howie got a sniff when Perno was bounced. Dave and Tom did get that "Next Coach" tag even if it meant they had to hone their chops somewhere else. Kevin came in thanks to a heavenly beam of light. Those guys left when Calhoun was a young pup, relatively. Calhoun retired at 70, right? Boeheim turns 70 before the start of this season.
Hopkins didn't get the job.
I don't think he'll ever coach at Syracuse unless Boeheim pulls a Calhoun and retires in September. The guy hasn't impressed the likes of Boston College or Oregon State - hard to imagine Darryl Gross, who will want to take a star turn, just handing Hopkins the keys.

The thought of Boeheims tradition continuing after he's gone makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
If Leitao had succeeded at UVA, he'd have been offered the UConn job and the AD's first-born when Calhoun retired. He was my pick to replace Jim until he tanked there. It's too bad, because he looked good at DePaul.I don't think Howie got a sniff when Perno was bounced. Dave is probably the only one of those 3 who would have been considered. We hit the lottery with KO.Those guys left when Calhoun was a young pup, relatively. Calhoun retired at 70, right? Boeheim turns 70 before the start of this season.
