Well... people who said that were dumb. Doherty was there 3 years, only had 1 losing season, and they had gone to a Final Four the year before he started coaching. They also had multiple national titles.

St. John's has no titles. Two Final Fours ever, and the last over 30 years ago. It's been two decades since an Elite 8. There have been 10 losing seasons in the last 20 decades.

The difference between this and UNC is the difference between Achilles and a very fast turtle.

I was referring to the radio caller saying UConn was done and Hurley should have stayed at URI and waited for the SJU job to open up. His point was that UConn is dead and SJU is a better job.

My point was that UConn isn’t dead and soon all this losing will be a distant memory and UConn will once again be considered an elite basketball school.

His message to the season ticket holders. My first thought (other than he needs a thesaurus to find an alternative for "amazing" ) is that it will bite him in the ass if he takes a better offer in a year or two.

Have to believe they’re going to be looking at Mark Jackson. It’s the only name that makes sense right now.

Jayson Williamson would be a killer hire.
Come on, it's definitely not too soon for that.

I mean, what's dumb about the radio caller is that if UConn is dead St. John's was never even a virus.

Some schmuck caller on WFAN just said Hurley should have waited at URI and go to a better job at St. Johns. Caller then knocked the AAC which the Pope quickly defended saying the AAC is a strong league. The Pope then said replacing Calhoun is impossible.

Did you miss the caller that wanted to hire Calhoun?

The best part was Francessas response. He started to say JC was a HOF coach, then stopped himself and said he was bigger than the HOF and called him iconic.
Great props. Said he had nothing more to be done basically

I think one thing that hurts St John's is that playing in MSG doesn't have the luster it once had. In the 60's and 70's (pre-cable) , when you only got to see sports once or twice a week, a lot of the big events were at MSG. Think Frazier-Ali. Now that almost every game and every event is televised, I just don't see 18-19 yo kids being as awed by MSG.

10 losing seasons in 200 years?
ain't nothing wrong with that
Every program has an off year once in a while
One every 20 years is impressive
