Amazing baseball this year!!! White knuckles every night.

Other than game 1, the potential game tying or lead run has been in the on base circle (for the team not leading) every single at bat except for three. (Last night, sixth inning, and trust me, those three at bats weren't calm) Yes, a white knuckle recipe.

I see a problem for Sox fans at this point. This has been a crazy series, many unexpected things. Walkoff pickoff, walkoff obstruction. Sox getting 2 of 3 IN St. Louis. Don't think anyone expects the Cards to be able to come back and take 2 IN Boston........which means.....it's probably, in this series, more likely than not.

(ok, I'm hoping here, but it has been strange)

Anybody who sees Boston as a lock at this point is just plain wrong. STL is a very dangerous team.

Don't see it as a lock, but as a good possibility...if the pitching and Ortiz hold up for just one more time!

One just has to love Big Papi's energy, not just his hitting which is off the hook. Papi's is really into the game and his base running has been aggressive and includes beating out an infield hit and scoring from first. Gathering the team in the dugout and calling out the bench to bring him home from second. Wow! Fun to watch.

Absolutely! But I think the high point was his buffaloing down to score on a really pretty shallow fly to left. The man looked DETERMINED!!!

Poor Bill. The man had a pretty good career, yet he is remembered for a single play.

Leigh Montville, a Connecticut native and 17 year writer for the Boston Globe wrote an interesting, albeit controversial piece about Ortiz's increased bat speed at his age comparable to Bonds when Bonds was Ortiz's age. The specter of PED's will forever haunt Big Papi as it does Clemens, Bonds, etc.

Did I just hear a ghostly voice whisper "bill buckner"?
Don't know but it sounded like "what are we paying A Rod for again?" to me.

I was living in Southern California in 1971 and 1972 and was a Dodger fanatic. My parents took me to a game every year, and it was always the highlight of my summer. I had a major league crush on Steve Garvey (as most self respecting 12 year old girls did at that time) but Bill Buckner was #2 on my list of favorite Dodgers. We moved to Nebraska the summer of 1972, but I stayed a Buckner fan. Broke my heart to see him muff the sure out that would have won the Red Sox the World Series in 1986. I knew he would forever be remembered as the guy who lost the World Series for Boston. He deserves to be remembered for more than one blown play.

I saw an ESPN special on "scapegoats" and Bill B's story was told... very sad. He took a wildly disproportionate amount of blame, derision and mocking over the years that left deep emotional scars.

I haven't seen a dangerous team at all in the batters box, I see a lot of easy national league outs. The Sox staff is toying with them.........only reason it's even getting to #6 is the Sox bats were also very quiet since the Tigers series......they'll be singing Sweet Caroline until the wee hours tomorrow.......glad I'll be home!!

Correct. My Sux buddy who lives near Chowdahtown is in heaven, but who know, maybe heaven can wait. But big Boston edge with both Papi and Napoli in the lineup.

Hey maybe you can resolve the debate my friend and I have been having. If, a pitch brushes the tip of say, Napoli or Gomes' beards, it that a HBP or not? Seems like adding several inches of facial hair shouldn't give the batter an edge. Could be obstruction.
