OT: Something you miss from summers you had when you were young

Loved Colchester Bakery. Use to walk to the local IGA every Sunday morning to pick up the papers. They had boxes and boxes of things from Colchester Bakery to pick from. Loved their cake style doughnuts and Russian black bread.

Their cinnamon twists were next level. And the bread, oh my god. From what I understand its closed but someone purchased those amazing ovens.

Poppy and Rye bakery in the Taftville section of Norwich made the black bread from Colchester Bakery but sadly that closed too.

Same with me. I spent 8-10 hours a day in the woods in the summer when I was a kid. Never even heard the word tick mentioned.
They were around, but having one on you didn't immediately create the need for the hazmat team from Monsters Inc. to come by and decontaminate you.

On the other hand, I really hated leeches from swimming in lakes.

How'd I miss this thread?!?!

When I was younger: getting anything from Carvel and family day at the beach

When I was in my teens: going to the beach, then driving by the beach/shoreline at night cranking out 80's hair metal tunes, hanging out at the Milford Oyster Festival

When I was in my 20's: taking the jet ski into Long Island sound and staying on the beach at a friend's house all day

When my kids were little: going to Sailfest and the Wigwam festival (at Mohegan) and taking the kids to the beach

Now: going back to the beach and getting to Wildwood as much as we can

So I guess for me, really life's a beach.
