Some things are irreplaceable...at least until something more, um, captivating than p-ball.

You need to know I grew up with a tennis court in our backyard and my grandparents, and aunts and uncles all playing every Sunday afternoon. Lots of doubles. I just find the game passionless and boring today like many things in pro sports. A good game of racquetball, squash, deck tennis, or Pickleball is far more fun and interesting than this era of tennis. Big racquets ruined the game reduced large chunks of it to boring baseline rallies and swinging from your heels. I'm just a fussy old traditionalist.
You like what you like that's fine but I find the present game completely uninteresting. Playing any of the above including tennis is preferable to watching the game as it is. I loved serve and volley.I'm going to have to strongly disagree with you: there's still nothing as exhilarating as crushing that winner past a opponent or lunging successfully to stick a volley.
Maybe it's because I play singles, but the athleticism and pace of the modern game is far preferable to me. The alternatives you mention simply don't compare.
