I don't know about whether she is or is not actually a good person or not, but she does not "come across" as one. That is, her behavior and decisions are not ones I admire; whereas Geno's are.

Are you suggesting that Serena is not a good person?

Kim tightened up but managed to pull it out in a second set tiebreak. 6-3 7-6. She definitely looks good but will have to face potentially two equally big hitters in Azarenka, Sharapova, Kvitova (who might be the most powerful woman's player right now).

Wozniaki will finally lose the #1 ranking. If any of those three win the Oz, then they would become the new #1. If Kim wins, then it would probably come down to who loses to her in the finals.

6-3 5-2 so far

Clijsters looks great so far. Wozniacki just doesn't seem to have the game to hurt the more powerful hitters.

I love that this board has threads on all sports, not just basketball.

On the tennis court (last year's US Open final and when she threatened another player--Sanchez, disregard for tournaments where she was paid massive appearance fees, for examples) and more so off-court (graceless attitude after losses, Fed Cup absences, pullouts from tournament--including the twitter campaign to boycott a tournament when she was not given comp tickets, etc).

I've always admired Serana's determination on the court and respect her for that. I, too, have found some of her behavior less than appealing. There were the blowups on the court, which I can kind of overlook since she is a great competitor and wants to win, and I have thrown my racquet more than once. But she is well known for making comments after losses in which she gives very little credit to her opponent.

I saw the Williams sisters in an exhibition match against each other and Venus was incredibly engaging but Serena truly acted as if she would rather be in the dentist chair than playing that match.

never fun playing against each other I guess... maybe she feel she's selling out for promoting the game

Her revolutionary athleticism and power and her competitive ferocity. I truly believed that if she had worked her hardest, she would have been the best ever.

what makes her that...

Love Clijsters, rooting for her, Marakhova (called her Makarova last time maybe I was thinking of the macarena, luv to dance hehe), anyway probably butchering names.

Wish Nadal and Federer were in different semis, wanted to see them in the final.

Assuming Djoker goes through to the finals, though, Fed-Rafa and Fed/Rafa-Djoker make for two really, really compelling matches. I'm rooting hard for Federer. He was playing some really good tennis at the tail end of last year. It will be interesting to see if it can carry over to a major against two younger rivals.

The women's side, even sans Serena, has a lot of intrigue, too. Can Kim get it done yet again? Can Maria break through and win her first Slam in four years? Can Kvitova become the first up-and-coming woman player in a long time to reach the mountaintop and actually STAY there? Can Azarenka be something more than a perrenial also-ran in majors?
