Yea, they had some good songs, however, they didn't actually write any of them. The Monkees were disrespected and worked very and to overcome the criticism of those "purists" who denigrated them. But look at their body of work, and how many truly iconic songs they produced. Daydream Believer is one of my favorites. RIP, Peter. And thanks.

I don't know where they fit in the land of music. But during their era they were omni-visible and heard often.I will be dedicating Daydream Believer tonite at Karaoke to Peter. I luved watching the Monkees.
Are you trying to tell me ELVIS didn't write all the songs he sung? My balloon just popped. I'll never visit Memphis again. That is true, but that is true of many performers. So writing them gives you "bonus" points. But I do not think that not writing them creates a deficit situation. Many of our most beloved songs were recorded by artists that did not write them. I am not claiming that they were among the greats of music, but I think that they deserve better than they sometimes get.

Irish were the true believers . So a wake was Joy. Have joy Peter is so well remembered..ubiquitous maybe, but at a period of their entertainment life it seemed a clip or spot of them was seen as one surfed the tube. My daughters preferred the Cassidy kid. Do run run.Or ubiqitous and omnipresent! When you become elevator music you know you have arrived. Yes, this is our Irish wake. We can laugh as we raise a pint.

Now then, maybe we all can get together on this group:
Just don't say anything bad about Susan Dey or we'll have a problem. Got me!

The woman who played the mom is Shirley Jones. She is from Western Pennsylvania, in a river town south of Pittsburgh. Her family owned the Jones Brewing Company ,which produced beer dating back to the 19th century. The brand, Stoneys, was very popular in towns south and east of Pittsburgh. Shirley was a local princess! And I am sure Susan Dey was also very special.
I can't remember all the things I forget! His name is Mickey DolenzNesmith, Tork, Jones, and why can't I remember the 4th guys name?
