Heard from an acquaintance and soccer guy last nite with some knowledge that a US appearance is not out of the question. Will go regardless. Hopefully a couple of A guys can play for the US but this is a good time to explore what is becoming a deeper talent pool. Any SA teams in the tourney?

If you are on the fence about soccer, then you should go to one of these games. It will change your perception. If it is a USMNT game then you will be a fan for life.

You might see a shapely young woman in a snug Celtic kit. Those green horizontal stripes can be very effective.

USA Team? (some people were talking Mexico and other Concacaf teams).
The USA has WC qualifiers (the Hex), on June 7th, 11th and 18th (Jamaica, Panama and Honduras). The A team will be there for those. I doubt they will be back July 1-28 (I’m sure Klinsmann will want the team in a week prior to the tourney.). Especially with their club preseason (European based players) starting up in late July, early August. Good way to pissoff the clubs for a nothing tournament.

Players like Howard, Dempsey, Bocanegra, Chandler, Johnson, Jones, Bradley, Cherundolo, Williams, Altidore I can almost guarantee won’t be there. No idea on Donovan. He may never play again???

You could get some A-/B+ players like Zusi, Buddle, Gomez, Shea, Corona, Torres, Castillo, Fiscal. But a few will probably come from the Camp Cupcake taking place right now in preps for the 1/29 Friendly vs Canada.

Roster GK- Johnson, Hamid, Hall, Defender – DeLeGarza, Gonzalez, Parke, Beltran, Besler, Lade, Morales, Morrow Midfielders – Feilhaber, Beckerman, Bedoya, Zusi, Evans, Davis, Diskerud, Gatt Forwards – Johnson, Agudelo, Wondolowski, Bruin. I would guess we might see some of these this summer.

Guess it depends on what one would consider A/B/C teams/players.

Mexico is going to have their A team for pretty much the whole month of June. WC qualifiers 6/4 and 6/7 and then the Confederations Cup June 15-30th. They won't be back for the Gold Cup.

Meyers - great summary about the potential roster ... i think you are spot on. The only name I could think of to add to that list is Stu Holden. He came on as a late reserve in Bolton's FA cup loss to Everton. Bolton is currently planning to use him on the reserves as he works his way back from his knee injury. I haven't heard anything specific, but I believe that Klinsmann will attempt to do the same thing with the Gold Cup.

I think you will see some who are A call ups but dont play regularly. There was some crossover in 2009

This was the 2009 Gold Cup roster
Goalkeepers: Jon Busch (Chicago), Troy Perkins (Valerenga, Norway), Luis Robles (Kaiserslautern, Germany).
Defenders: Steve Cherundolo (Hannover, Germany), Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City), Clarence Goodson (Start, Norway), Jay Heaps (New England), Chad Marshall (Columbus), Michael Parkhurst (Nordsjaelland, Denmark), Heath Pearce (Hansa Rostock, Germany).
Midfielders: Davy Arnaud (Kansas City), Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Colin Clark (Colorado), Sam Cronin (Toronto), Brad Evans (Seattle), Stuart Holden (Houston), Logan Pause (Chicago), Robbie Rogers (Columbus).
Forwards: Freddy Adu (Monaco, France), Brian Ching (Houston), Kenny Cooper (Dallas), Charlie Davies (Hammarby, Sweden), Santino Quaranta (D.C. United).

Here was the Confederations Cup roster from that same summer

Goalkeepers Brad Guzan (Aston Villa/England), Tim Howard (Everton/England), Luis Robles (Kaiserslautern/Germany)
Defenders Carlos Bocanegra (Rennes/France), Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA/M.L.S.), Danny Califf (Midtjylland/Denmark), Jay DeMerit (Watford/England), Oguchi Onyewu (Standard Liege/Belgium), Heath Pearce (Hansa Rostock/Germany), Jonathan Spector (West Ham United/England), Marvell Wynne (Toronto/M.L.S.)
Midfielders Freddy Adu (AS Monaco/France), DaMarcus Beasley (Rangers/Scotland), Michael Bradley (Borussia Mönchengladbach/Germany), Ricardo Clark (Houston/M.L.S.), Benny Feilhaber (Aarhus/Denmark), Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA/M.L.S.), José Francisco Torres (Pachuca/Mexico)
Forwards Jozy Altidore (Xerez/Spain), Conor Casey (Colorado/M.L.S.), Charlie Davies (Hammarby/Sweden), Clint Dempsey (Fulham/England), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles/M.L.S.)

This was a little different, because that was two different tournaments in the same summer, while this is just qualification so I would expect a little more crossover.

I'm sure Marcus Tracy (Newtown) would love to make a strong rehab and comeback with San Jose this year but it would be asking a lot to see him considered for a callup so soon. Maybe with a full season under his belt he can get his career on track.

I am going to go see the camp cupcake team tonight in Houston play a C level Canada team (besides the wonderful D-Ro). Excited to see the back line, since I expect one of the CB to be starting next week in Honduras.

USA!!!
