@BrianSciaretta: RT @TropiGol Here's a map of the stadiums that will host CONCACAF Gold Cup games this summer: http://post original url/W4sUvdJf

Doubt we get USA or Mexico but still cool to see.

I've been waiting for this! I was worried the fall soccer debacles would hurt our chances.

We could get a USMNT game. 40K ain't hay.

Sweet! Hopefully we'll see the US ... but I'll probably go anyway.

Is this the sport where they attempt to hit the ball between the goal and then chicks take their shirt off?

Interesting mix of stadiums - from 25K seat soccer specific facilities to nearly 100K football stadiums. It will be interesting to see how games are assigned. Group stage games are played in double-headers and while I would tend to doubt we'll see the U.S., it's interesting to look back at 2011. The U.S. played three group games - in NFL stadiums in Detroit and Tampa that were 60% empty (about 27K each) and the third in K.C's soccer stadium which only had 20K but was full. One would think the environment was better with a full house. The Rent is probably too small for the quarter-finals and on, but it's probably an ideal size for a U.S. group stage game. We can hope.

...Group stage games are played in double-headers....

That is very good to know. My buddy insists that we will get Belize v. Martinique. My 1st thought was they would both be at the bottom of a group, but now I know that if that should that actually be the case the other game would probably be pretty decent.

Every city gets a double-header except the host for the final. 9 cities host a double-header featuring all four teams in one of the groups (so 3 cities per group to hold a full round-robin). Two cities each host a quarter-final double-header and one hosts the semi-final double-header. The Rent won't get a play-down double-header as those are expected to draw big crowds. Obviously the best hope is to be one of the cities for the U.S. group, but I'll bet there will be a good crowd and a fun atmosphere if a team like Mexico, Jamaica or one of the Central American nations that has a strong immigrant population in the Boston-Washington belt is assigned.

If it's not the US, I hope it's Jamaica. They'll have a huge showing, but don't bring the kids, they might get a contact high.

Trinidad(?) had a great showing a few years ago, they lost the game (of course), but never stopped beating those dums.

Jamaica is not in the tournament, unfortunately. I agree, TnT would be a welcome return. Hartford has a large West Indian population. Now that I know it's a double header, I honestly don't care what we end up with. It's gonna be great.

There is a 0% chance that Mexico comes to Hartford, so that leaves 50/50 whether the US is coming. I would actually rate the US chance as better than that though, since there is no significant central american populations within CT. This tourny is out to fill seats.

Also, Mexico is 100% not sending its best 23 to this tourny with the Confederations Cup this summer, and the US is not likely to call up its usual starts. It should still be a good and interesting team, just no Dempsey or Howard.

Yep, this is the off year (no Confed Cup to qualify for) so expect a B team.

Dempsey just had one of the great efforts I've seen this year vs MU.

This isn't the year they have to qualify for the World Cup?
Yes, the A team will be doing that. The B team will (or should) be playing in this years Gold Cup. Winner gets nothing but bragging rights. In 2015, the Gold Cup winner get included in the 2017 Confederations Cup.

Gold Cup doesn't have anything to do with qualifying for the World Cup. Just it's on little tourney.

Doesn't matter to me. As long as it's a team or teams that draw good crowds, I'll be happy. Was at the Trinidad game and the drums and fans were awesome. Went to the Czech Rep game and it was fun as well. I'm hoping we get some good teams and some fun atmospheres! I'll be there!

I'm pretty sure Mexico takes this tournament serious, winning it boost FIFA ranking. I'm sure the C.A teams will bring their stars as is the perfect opportunity to see their teams at full strength and make the changes necessary instead of scheduling 1 game every 3-4 months and still have no idea what their team looks like. This is the main reason Mexico takes it serious they want to be #1 and stay#1 in this conference, some of the C.A teams are closing the gap take Honduras for example, Mexico has not won in Honduras in a long time in fact I think Mexico fired 2 head coaches because they lost ugly in Honduras in world cup qualifying matches.

Add in the fact that the C.A teams are having their own little tourney right now adding more experience as a team, I'd be curious to see if the USA brings their B team.

Well no not everyone will be bringing their B team. But pretty sure USA will. And most likely Mexico will. They have bigger fish to fry this summer.

i don't think it will be the B team. Won't it be more of the A-, B+ team?

USA Team? (some people were talking Mexico and other Concacaf teams).
The USA has WC qualifiers (the Hex), on June 7th, 11th and 18th (Jamaica, Panama and Honduras). The A team will be there for those. I doubt they will be back July 1-28 (I’m sure Klinsmann will want the team in a week prior to the tourney.). Especially with their club preseason (European based players) starting up in late July, early August. Good way to pissoff the clubs for a nothing tournament.

Players like Howard, Dempsey, Bocanegra, Chandler, Johnson, Jones, Bradley, Cherundolo, Williams, Altidore I can almost guarantee won’t be there. No idea on Donovan. He may never play again???

You could get some A-/B+ players like Zusi, Buddle, Gomez, Shea, Corona, Torres, Castillo, Fiscal. But a few will probably come from the Camp Cupcake taking place right now in preps for the 1/29 Friendly vs Canada.

Roster GK- Johnson, Hamid, Hall, Defender – DeLeGarza, Gonzalez, Parke, Beltran, Besler, Lade, Morales, Morrow Midfielders – Feilhaber, Beckerman, Bedoya, Zusi, Evans, Davis, Diskerud, Gatt Forwards – Johnson, Agudelo, Wondolowski, Bruin. I would guess we might see some of these this summer.

Guess it depends on what one would consider A/B/C teams/players.

Mexico is going to have their A team for pretty much the whole month of June. WC qualifiers 6/4 and 6/7 and then the Confederations Cup June 15-30th. They won't be back for the Gold Cup.

I was hoping for a home WC qualifier like 8 years ago, but I'll take a Gold Cup double-header as consolation.
