This is such great news for Ray. Boston fans get far too butt hurt when players go to a rival. If his number does get retired and the fans embrace him strongly again that would be huge for Ray and not hurt our brand by any means.

You wanna tell KG he got far too butt hurt? Be my guest haha. He's the main guy who started the rift between him and the team, which naturally bled into the fanbase. Ray didn't openly communicate with them he was going to Miami. Cowardly move on his part after all they had been through, IMO (and I'm as big a Ray fan as anybody).

Can't pin this on the fan base. Still a lot of love for Ray in Beantown and he should/will get his # retired one day.

I don’t think Ray ever had beef with that team. But glad KG decided to let it go.

Ray is no coward.
Didn't call him a coward, said it was "a cowardly move." An open dialogue with his teammates and brothers before he jumped ship to a rival was warranted.

Potato, potahto. The Celtics didn't want the guy.

A big reason that KG was willing to go to Boston was he wanted to play with Ray. Ray had signed as a FA with Boston. When Ray left for Miami, it could have been seen by KG as a betrayal. Especially since Ray won a ring in Miami. But that's all water under he bridge, over the dam and into the sea.

Ray has been fairly silent on all of this as Garnett has acted like a Mean Girl for years. I'm not even a huge Ray fan but it's pretty clear Garnett is a tool.
Yeah, a tool that had a sold out TD Garden screaming on its feet for an hour AFTER the team lost a close game yesterday.

Garnett's as real as they come and is admired by his peers and the entire NBA. Let's also not forget it wasn't just KG that had it out for Ray through all of this. Ray had several Celts teammates on his bad side for years, which validates that what he did was disrespectful.

UConn bias is expected on this board, so whatever.

Offer was on the table by the Celts front office. Regardless of his business decision, Ray owed his teammates an explanation before signing with Miami.

Take a poll of the Celtics organization - from the locker room attendants and parking valets to the execs - and see who they think the tool is.

One of those CYA offers. The C's were happy with Avery Bradley. Ray didn't owe anyone anything.

It’s all water under the bridge Ray left as a FA, how is that back stabbing.

You can side with Ray on the manner in which he exited the Celts org. That's your right.

Lebron and Riley wanted him more I guess.
