OT: Providence Area Restaurants

A family friends son is graduating at Bryant this weekend. I was wondering if people could recommend some good restaurants in the Providence area. Thanks in advance.

My wife and I always liked Apsara if you're looking for a pan-Asian place. Really really good food at a good price.

It depends on what you're looking for. I don't think it's possible to find a more authentic Mexican place in the northeast than Garibaldi's. I tend to think the best restaurant in providence is Chez Pascal but it is pricey.

If it is going to be a group I'd suggest Twin Oaks in Cranston. You will be just far enough from Smithfield and Providence to escape graduation crowds, the food is great with a large menu and they have 3 bars, indoor and outdoor seating etc. Its a can't miss venue for your purposes. It is also ridiculously well priced.

Pot au Few, in downtown Providence, is one of that city's most highly regarded restaurants.

Like somebody else said, it all depends what you're looking for. Al Forno is an old standby. I'm a big fan of Cook & Brown, Farmstead in Wayland Square, Nick's on Broadway. I have to plug this new-ish place North in Luongo Square on Federal Hill. A really cool Asian spot reminiscent of Mission Chinese or Momofuku in NY.

It's a really great food town. A word to the wise: a lot of those red sauce joints on Atwells are coasting by on nostalgia at this point.

They are traditional in their tastes (some including me would call them boring). They are big on Italian. Not to fancy. The Mexican sounds like something I would like, but I can't even get my friend to try salsa. lmao.
