Here is my annual post concerning my quest to visit every D1 campus to see a college basketball game. I am currently at 144 games going into my 11th season.

I recently ran into someone on the golf course who said he knew a guy who was doing a similar quest. The guy was at 260 games. I said "Whoa!" till I found out he was also counting the away team in his count. So it was a count of the unique teams he saw not a count of visits to the campus of the home team.

I have two highlights to talk about for the upcoming season:

1. On Father's Day this year, my daughter said that her gift to me is for Father's Day, my birthday and XMAS for the next 10 years. I immediately thought of tickets to the Masters or the Ryder Club. She then showed me a description of the item she won in the annual UCONN Foundation auction. A friend (already spoke for) and me will be attending an UCONN away game riding on the charter plane with the players and coaches including meals, hotel and game ticket. She has been trying for a years trying to win this for me. You can guess how much this cost. I am still in a state of shock. I am awaiting word from the UConn folks as to what game I will be going to. My hope is that it either Kansas or Creighton (the only Big East arena I have not been at).

2. I take my wife on one trip a year to see a basketball a game. This year, we will be visiting Hawaii to see the the only D1 school in the state. We will be staying in Maui and hopping over to Oahu one day to see the game.

As always, I hope to see at least 12 -14 games this year. You can follow my travels at www.journeyto351,com.

So has been the tradition every year with this annual post, I quote Fishy who said this about my quest from the first season:

“You have no chance of doing it. But beyond that, you don’t want to. At some point, you’ll find yourself at Houston Baptist watching them host Incarnate Word wondering just why you threw your life away. Then, you’ll make your way back to your $29 a night hotel room in Cow Dick, Texas, and drown yourself in the toilet.”

GO HUSKYS!

In the somewhat unlikely event that Kansas is your game on December 3rd, K State plays a home game on Monday Dec 1 and UMKC has a home game on Wednesday the 4th. But being on the charter may mean that isn't feasible.

Congrats on the unique experience, wherever it is. Hopefully not St. Johns.

Have a great time!!

that trip was offered at the UConn Club annual auction, independent of the Foundation.

You're catching up to me quickly @Greathusky! I'm at 231 heading into this season and still waiting for game times to drop for a lot of the leagues to see how many double and triple header weekends I can try to get in this year to hopefully get to 250 by the end of the year.

I have an east coast swing planned from Nov 8-16 so far to hopefully get 6 or 7 venues crossed off including a trip to West Point when they host Duke on Veterans Day (only because I want to see a full venue at West Point, definitely not thrilled it will probably be a 50 point Duke blowout...). I'll be at the BYU/UConn game in Boston too but since it's neutral it obviously doesn't count in the journey.

Hoping to get my last Big East venue crossed off this season too when UConn goes to Georgetown but I need more than 1 game in the DC/MD/VA area for the weekend to justify the flight cost from WI.

I need to spend some extended time in the South in the next couple of years as I have a lot of open venues in TX, AR, MS, LA plus the Northeast still has a bunch too even after this year's plans.

I'm not sure if I will ever catch up to you :)

Contrarily, I want to do more west of the Mississippi this season. One could spend a month in Texas given the number of schools and the distances between them. Safe travels!!
