Is it just me? But I just can't get into this so far. Ignoring all the problems and Bob Costas' pink eye (Did Vladimir Putin fart in his pillow?) but the time difference is killing it for me. Watched ESPN yesterday and found out about Bode Miller placing 8th in the downhill, and that took all the suspense out. So we'll get to see Julia Mancuso's runs only 17 hours after the fact. Just wait till Hockey gets going and the spoilers are all over the place.

I agree...especially on Bode Miller. When I read that he had the fastest practice run, I was very interested in watching the event. When I read he came in 8th, I didn't bother to tune in.

I don't know how they fix the time difference thing...but unless the Olympics are in a reasonably close time zone, I really don't see myself watching that much.

I watched simply to see people go 85 mph on skis. It looked like the top 8 were all within one second.

I watch 3 events in the Winter Olympics: Slalom skiing, ski jumping, and hockey.

Summer Olympics: I watch nothing.

Winter: I watch downhill skiing, hockey, and the snowboard cross. The wife will watch figure skating.

Summer: Track and field, beach volleyball, beach volleyball, beach volleyball, some swimming. Wife watches gymnastics.

It is amazing the differences in what we watch versus the wives. Also amazing is that if we're desperate for some action, we'll all watch figure skating and gymnastics.

Putin should have thought this through a little more carefully, because Russia is becoming an international joke because of these Olympics. The hotels are a mess and many are not even completed yet. The venues are also incomplete or just poorly made. The snowboarding half pipe in particular is a disaster. The opening ceremony snowflake failing to turn into a ring is a symbol for the entire event. Russia can't pull an event like this off, and now they have proven it to the whole world. Even Greece didn't screw them up this bad, in part because they had enough sense to ask for help.

I'm a big skier, so the winter Olympics are naturally of high interest to me. I pretty much like every event except for figure skating and curling. Alpine skiing and hockey are probably my favorites, followed by bobsled and ski jumping. I'll even watch the cross country and biathlon too.

I always go into the Olympics with a dismissive attitude they are here, maybe because I find the games mark the passage of time (age).

Once the games get going though, I find myself watching a great deal and by the end I find myself thinking that it was a pretty exciting couple of weeks.

But Russia was already a joke. Yes, its not perfect, but the world's expectations were really low going into this.

No one wants to watch the action-packed, super stimulating and thrilling curling? Am I the only one who actually cares about this "sport"?

I can't wait for hockey and the bobsled! Surprised nobody mentioned bobsled yet ... seeing as the sleds were developed in Oxfoed CT.

I love the Bobsled. And all of the other sled events. Been watching the World Cup events on Universal Sports.

It reminds me of baseball.

I was only half joking. I do like to watch curling. I have no idea why it appeals to me, but I have a good time watching it. I happen to really like baseball as well. Must mean I'm an extremely patient guy...or just really boring.

Winter: Hockey takes up slots #1-#5. Starting at #6 in no particular order is downhill skiing (85mph with the only protecting being a spandex suit and a crash helmet? sign me up as a spectator), the Sledding events, Curling, short track speed skating...pretty much anything where an American has a significant shot to win a metal with the following caveat: Sports determined with significant amount of subjective judging need not apply (i.e. figure skating and the x-games type events), though the slopestyle was kind of interesting to watch.

I think my liking to it came form playing bocce ball throughout my entire childhood. Or I just really want to be that guy that sweeps the ice. Seems like he needs vigorous training in the weight room to do that job. I can always put on a few more pounds of muscle and if it takes curling to do it, so be it.

Time difference kills skiing. At least snowboard and halfpipe (if they pull it off) is early-mid morning for us although #NBCFail is canning it all until primetime. In the coming days the mid-morning to noon action ramps up but you'll have to get a stream to watch it live on the BBC or CBC.

Russia could never do this justice. It was always a multi-billion dollar shot of viagra for Putin's ego. But the athlete's efforts always offer some compelling action even Putin can't ruin.

I watched the Olympics this morning on my phone and on NBC Extra. The schedule looks full for the next few mornings too. Are you saying I can't watch Curling, speed skating or luge tomorrow morning?

Julia Mancuso just seems like a naughtier, more like able and more intriguing athlete than Lindsey Vonn. And Lindsey Vonn is no slouch.
