Is the 4 year statute of limitations by the NCAA something new? I never heard of that before and, from what I remember, Michigan basketball was punished about a decade after Chris Webber (and others) accepted money from a booster.

It's cynical, but it seems like one of those explanations the NCAA comes up with when they don't want to go after a program.

It's real, although they have some exceptions written into their enforcement. How they determine if those exceptions apply is beyond me as I think the NCAA just makes up rules, evidence, and punishments based on how they feel on a given day.

SI just looks like a Hall Monitor here. OSU isn't probably any worse than most of the biggest programs.

OSU might get dinged by the NCAA for some of this. OU or Texas wouldn't but OSU isn't royalty.

Ole T. Boone will buy, chew and spit NCAA refuse in Emmert's face if the NCAA tries to punish OKS to any extent greater than MIA or UNC. There are two kinds of pissed-off. Oil money pissed-off and regular pissed off. My guess is that Emmert has no interest in the former.

The difference betwen when UConn got penalized and some of the other football schools a few years back and now is that the NCAA. The NCAA is a shell of its former self and a laughingstock after some of their blunders the last 2 years. When they came down on UConn, Emmert still had some power and was perceived positively by NCAA Athletics/teams. If that happened today they would have gotten a slap on the wrist like Oregon did. Add to it all the issues with the NCAA getting called out for greed and the recent departures of important NCAA employees, they are very weak.

I think the biggest issue with the SI report, is that you have an Oklahoma shill out to "expose" Oklahoma State. I never heard of Thayer whatever his last name before this, but several sources (Jason Whitlock, Brandon Weeden) have pointed the finger at him being an OU homer. Maybe that is not a big deal, but it just rings hollow to me. Would he be so willing to do such an expose of OU? Is OU beyond reproach when it comes to stuff like this? That the players had credibility issues is no shock, they were willing to go outside the family and discuss family business. That is the first sign they have credibility issues.

Pretty sure there's a blanket exception for UConn MCBB. They are looking retroactively APR scores from 90's now. Also rumblings about some potential violations from '86.
