OT- NFL MVP

Oh please. He’s facing a worse defense than UConn faced yesterday.
When are the Jets finally going to draft a decent QB? How many high 1st round draft choices have they wasted on QBs? Still waiting for Zach Wilson to develop as you told us he would. The Dolphins wouldn't even play him over Quinn Ewers.

I realize all of that, I think it's ridiculous no position player other than QB can ever win MVP again and I find it ridiculous that the MVP is decided between a bunch of QB's who really aren't all that great compared to QB's of the past. It's a major reason I find the NFL less and less interesting. We're on a path where 50 year old quarterbacks will be playing in the NFL.

I think the NFL should lose the charade that the MVP is open to everyone when it's really only open to quarterbacks.
GET OFF MY LAWN!!!

Quarterback is by far and away the most important position in any team sport. It’s not even close. No single player has as much of an impact on EVERY game as the quarterback. Especially in the modern game. You may not like that, but it’s a fact. So to me it makes perfect sense why the MVP is almost exclusively a QB now.
Baseball pitcher? (other than starting pitchers don’t play every single game.)

I would say the likelihood of them drafting a decent qb is no better or less than every other team. Do I need to list all the whiffs? Anthony Richardson. Bryce Young. Trey Lance. Johnny Manziel. Jameis Winston.

After watching the last few weeks I have no faith in Glenn to be the guy who can draft and develop a young QB so the future looks bad.

You seem emotionally/fanatically sewn to Allen, so I assume you are a Bills fan. I am neither a Bills nor Ravens fan.

2023 simply wasn’t a season statistically to say Allen deserved the MVP. He finished 5th in MVP and 6th in OPOY. Bills were 11-6 and Ravens were 13-4.

Last year Lamar put up literal all-time numbers. Like, potentially a top-5 QB regular season ever. I don’t like the argument of “well he won the year before he shouldn’t win this year”. It has no precedent over the season in question. Josh had an incredible season last year, Lamar had a better season.

We can go back and forth, but
a) I didn’t say that he can’t win 2 years in a row.

He can’t logically win 1 year due to more team success and then also the next year when he had more counting stats. It was flipped both years. Interceptions are only 1 factor.

Allen also had 22 more TDs than Lamar in 2023…he led the league in TDs and yards. Lamar had 29 total TDs, Allen had 51 lol.

b) For Lamar’s “historic” season in 24, Allen had a better QBR.

How you could reasonably say Lamar was the rightful 23 mvp (fine) AND 24 is against logic.

As far as this season, I think Stafford is the pick but Maye has been incredible. He just isn’t as valuable to their team as Stafford is, in my opinion.

I do think there’s an element to Stafford deserving it, too. Fair or not.

Darnold looks decent now that he's not on the Jets. So maybe there is hope for Wilson one day.

Somehow they have more wins than the giants this year!
Jets point differential is the worst in the NFL. Only the Raiders and Titans have a chance to catch them. Almost two guaranteed wins every year if you are the Pats, Bills and Dolphins

You just outright lied twice here for no reason. Allen had 43 touchdowns in 2023. Not 51. He also didn’t have a better QBR than Lamar last year. On top of that, Allen was 8th last year in Passer Rating among qualifying QBs.

Your final point, again, simply doesn’t make sense. MVPs aren’t compared to the previous winner, they are compared to the rest of the league THAT season.

I am a Pats fan and I love Maye. But Staffords numbers are great (40 and 5, cmon) and he’s playing in the toughest division in football this year. He deserves it.

But anyone who says Maye isn’t even in the conversation, or should be behind Allen, is just a moron.

I must have included playoffs, sorry. He still out scored him in TDs by a HUGE amount.

But I looked on pro football reference and it said he did lead the league in QBR. I’m not worried about it, saying I outright lied for no reason sounds like a 12 year old, so we’ll leave it where it is.

My points remain and I guess lots of voters and others agree. I’m not sure what doesn’t make sense about my last point, you seem to disagree but it’s not hard to understand.

Because it’s not against logic. And again, Lamar may not have fully deserved it in ‘23. But Josh wasn’t even really close in the voting. He didn’t deserve it.

That’s not even my argument.

According to your logic, Maye deserves it.

Josh Allen threw 18 interceptions in 2023, so he was not statistically the best QB that year. Lamar threw 4 in 2024. Also, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen tied for the highest QBR, and Lamar was first in nearly every advanced stat other than QBR.

The Jets make the Giants look ok.

Honestly the Jets played some of the most comical defense I've ever seen in an NFL game yesterday...and that includes the winless Browns and Lions teams.

I don't know if that is the Jets being an all-time bad defense, Drake Maye being that good... Probably a bit of column A and a bit of column B.

I'd say the opposite is true. The Rams are good without Stafford. The Patriots would not be good without Maye. This is from before the Jets game.
