OT- NFL MVP

I see the argument for Garrett, the fact that Daniel Jones was in the mvp conversation for half the season tells you how bad the game has been watered down, 44 year old Phillip Rivers looks better then half the QBs. Stafford is having a great year over 4,000 yards 40 tds and he's playing in LA and he's 37 I see him getting the mvp.

They are taking your money.

The Patriots have the easiest SOS within the last 5+ years and Maye’s numbers are solidly behind Stafford in yards, touchdowns, rating, and has more INT’s.

It’s 40/5 vs. 25/8. If you want to compare rushing TDs Josh Allen has him beat dead to rights. I’d say he’s 3rd but even that’s a push for me.
I clearly said I don’t think he should get it, so how exactly are they taking my money?

It's a joke.

Since you are obviously smarter than the oddsmakers who make a living off of these things, this is a huge money making opportunity for you. Bet on Josh Allen to finish ahead of Drake Maye in the voting and see how that works out for you.

The Browns have given up the 20th most points per game and are 3-12. It doesn't seem like getting a lot of sacks is all that important. It would be like if we gave the basketball MVP to the guy with the most steals in the league.

It’a Stafford or Allen. Allen is clearly the better player and likely more valuable, Stafford simply has insane stats.
Lamar had clearly the better season last year and beat Allen head to head before MVP votes were submitted and it was still given to Allen. Voters vote on bias, not facts. They will not give it to Allen two years in a row.

You seem emotionally/fanatically sewn to Allen, so I assume you are a Bills fan. I am neither a Bills nor Ravens fan.

2023 simply wasn’t a season statistically to say Allen deserved the MVP. He finished 5th in MVP and 6th in OPOY. Bills were 11-6 and Ravens were 13-4.

Last year Lamar put up literal all-time numbers. Like, potentially a top-5 QB regular season ever. I don’t like the argument of “well he won the year before he shouldn’t win this year”. It has no precedent over the season in question. Josh had an incredible season last year, Lamar had a better season.
Also lost to lamar and the Ravens 35-10 in the only head to head game come past prior to the vote. Bills fans try to justify it with the razer thin playoff victory that occurred weeks after votes were in.

People who recommend Drake Maye don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.
He’s going to get a bunch of first place votes so you’re wrong. And he’s currently +300 to win, only behind Stafford. Allen is 30:1. I hate the Pats but Maye has had a special season with a much much worse supporting cast than his peers

Maye just tied Shadeur Sanders for 300 yard games too. He plays nobody and has worse stats than the rest. It’s not his fault the AFC East is a cakewalk, but the out of division SOS is historically putrid.

I’m a Pats fan and it’s hard to justify Maye as anything better than third with that schedule. Allen also has very little to work with, and they’re 1 game behind them against a much better SOS.

I can promise you one thing, the MVP will not come down to how many 300 yard games the QB has had. We’re about to be in 2026, there’s about 100 better ways to measure QB performance

I don’t really get this considering the Pats beat Buffalo in Buffalo and unlike the Bills didn’t get whooped by Miami in their own division (pending week 18)

I’ll try again: put your money where your mouth is. I will bet you Maye finishes ahead of Allen. If you aren’t willing to make the bet, please stop with your stupid arguments. You’re just wrong……and a hater. Of course, you are entitled to your opinion.

It's the best quarterback award, it didn't used to be.
You do realize that NFL rules have changed the way offense is played right? Remember when a RB was often the first player taken!? Remember didtka trading all his picks for a rb? That never happened for a qb.

Qb is the most valuable because it’s how the rules are written

Why aren’t y upset that no defensive player has won since LT?

So Diggs isn't a weapon or Henderson?

.-.
I say this every year for the past decade or so. Why hasn't the MVP award been renamed the QB award? Myles Garrett is going to break the all-time single season sack record and he isn't even top 7 in odds to get MVP. This will be the 13th straight year they give the award to a QB while pass rushers, running backs, and receivers have been putting up historic seasons and they don't even sniff the award.

Well, for one, I don't care how many sacks you get, you aren't "most valuable" anything on a 3-12 team. Pretty sure they could have gone 2-13 without Garrett

People who recommend Drake Maye don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.
Indeed. This is more an argument about value vs best stats that has waged for all eternity. Maye may very well be most valuable to his team, but doesn't have nearly the numbers Stafford has.

Not really, Allen was also 5th in MVP voting that year, plus he threw 18 interceptions, which is a big number for an MVP. I think the only candidate who could have qualms that season is Dak.
Not really. Dak put up those numbers against terrible teams. They won 7 games that year against the 5 worst teams in the league.

The argument against Lamar this year is his team is 8-8. Nobody on a .500 team is the league MVP

I realize all of that, I think it's ridiculous no position player other than QB can ever win MVP again and I find it ridiculous that the MVP is decided between a bunch of QB's who really aren't all that great compared to QB's of the past. It's a major reason I find the NFL less and less interesting. We're on a path where 50 year old quarterbacks will be playing in the NFL.

I think the NFL should lose the charade that the MVP is open to everyone when it's really only open to quarterbacks.
