OT NFL draft thread

Kinda surprised that OBI didn't land in round 1, tremendous upside goes without saying

Think that may be because Seattle traded out. I do think they're going to take him here early in round 2...we shall see.

King off the board. many had him going to seattle over Obi...let's see if this opens things up here for our guy!!

Wow. Surprised he hasn't come off the board yet. He was in the 1st round in a lot of mocks!

Panther's took Curtis Samuel from Erasmus Hall in Brooklyn. Had a UConn offer and visited campus.

Obi did a million interviews - so on that basis alone it's rather surprising. Our players have been ones to kinda ace the combine and not play up to par - in a way.

I'm getting more and more excited for Obi's pro bowl interview with every passing pick

i think there have been seven safeties picked. he was rated third or fourth best safety by most of the experts. Not sure what happened.

Obi Melifonwu goes to the Oakland Raiders w/ the 56th overall pick (started new thread)

Recruiting ratings of 2017 NFL Draft Picks in rounds 1-3

>>Recruiting is an inexact science, but you need talent to win, and recruiting rankings are generally good predictors of future success, for the most part. The NFL Draft can also be a crapshoot, but how has it shaped up relative to recruiting rankings?

Of the 107 picks through the first three rounds, here’s a breakdown, based on their 247Sports composite rating out of high school:

5 stars: 19
4 stars: 31
3 stars: 31
2 stars: 11
Unranked: 15

So 46.7 percent of these picks were rated 4- or 5 stars. Last year through three rounds, it was 60 percent. In 2015, it was 37 percent. Remember, there are far, far fewer 4/5 star players than 3 and below. A higher ranking typically indicates a better chance, but you can make the league from anywhere.

Here’s this year’s round-by-round breakdown:

First round

5 stars: 10
4 stars: 10
3 stars: 7
2 stars: 2
Unranked: 3

Second round

5 stars: 7
4 stars: 9
3 stars: 8
2 stars: 3
Unranked: 5

Third round

5 stars: 2
4 stars: 12
3 stars: 16
2 stars: 6
Unranked: 7<<

How fitting James Conner to the Steelers.

Also how fitting Maxon goes to Bengals. Perfect kind of defective personality they specialize in.

Probably the best athlete on the board when things shut down last night. That doesn't necessarily mean the best pick but if he's motivated and you utilize him correctly he's a threat to take it to the house with every touch.

As a NYG fan I'm mixed so far on this. I like the Engram and Tomlinson picks a lot, 2 guys who should get on the field a fair amount playing starter minutes next season. I'm not thrilled with the Davis Webb pick what so ever. IMHO he put up numbers in a system...and if he is anything like Goff he will struggle to adapt to the pro game. I wish they had taken Josh Dobbs over Webb at QB. Webb is that typical Jerry Reese pick..great this and great that skills..the new shiny penny in a pile of tarnished ones. Gallman is another solid pick that will give them a thumper to team with Pierce at RB while also not taking away from the passing game.

UGA had a WR go recently in the 5th, Bucky Hodges will go for Va Tech. Not really up on prospects from the other schools. NT is ranked 27th on the big board for remaining WRs, but he was one slot behind rodney adams who was recently drafted, so who knows. Not looking good, but he could go really late.
