St John’s and Syracuse are going to have a ball.

Not that the NCAA is opening any NIL investigations any time soon, but all this does is force them to go straight to a ban on participation. NYS has no leverage here u less they want all NY programs kicked out of the NCAA.

That is of course the NCAA still cared about payments, which they don't.

The NCAA and the federal government are the two entities I could see challenging this at some point.

The most remarkable thing is that people think that this would actually work on the NCAA.

You can either follow the NCAA’s rules or you can leave the NCAA.

Unless one of them knows an investigation is coming, NY schools do not want this law.

The NCAA isn't going to throw out every school from certain states, especially if a number of states pass similar laws. It would lead to the NCAA no longer enforcing the rule.

Just look what happened when California passed the NIL law in the first place. The NCAA just panicked and more or less blanket allowed it.

Among those people that think the state laws will work is the head of the NCAA, who said he needs the govt. to step in and legislate it federally.

And if that happens, all will be forgiven previously.

The bigger concern to me is how states without these laws will fail behind in recruiting - Hello UConn - especially if we join the Big 12.

the NCAA "kicking out" schools, especially P5 and similar schools, would hasten the NCAA becoming moot as it relates to D1 sports much faster than it is already going to happen
