Harkness estate is very nice. While you're in SE CT, look at the Branford House across the Thames River in Groton. It's part of the UConn Avery Point campus, and also a stumming place / view.

St. Clements Castle in Portland, CT is a nice venue on the Connecticut River.

That’s where my sister in law was married. Nice place.

If you're looking for a rehearsal dinner or post-reception spot in the area, the tap room at My Place is a nice spot with some good taps; the owner is a very good guy...for a Sox fan.
