Went to the movies tonight with the Mrs. Please tell me this is temporary and just overreaction:

1. Cop cars (yes plural) parked outside/around theater
2. Security Guard checking women's' bags (soon no more sodas, snacks and bottled drinks?). Never had a guard there before.
3. Lighting in the theater is no longer dark its dimmed
4. Sound was a lot quieter

I would think there were more changes that I missed. It reminded me of the shoe bomber on the plane then we all had to take off our shoes at the security gate. I hope this is not permanent, but is my experience unique?

The theater was in Trumbull by the way.

I saw Dark Knight Rises in Trumbull two or three weeks ago and noticed none of those things. In fact, the sound was mind blowingly loud. It was however a Tuesday night but it was the first Tuesday night with Batman playing. With the discounted prices for Tuesdays the line was out the door to buy tickets so it is not as if it wasn't a crowded movie theater.

These changes were apparantly made after the Dark Knight killing tragedy a week or so ago.

The Tuesday show he is referring to happened after the movie theater shooting. I didn't notice anything different from my previous trips to that theater.

Saw the Dark Knight Rises last week in Centennial, Colorado last Friday and there were no police/security whatsoever. I wish someone was there to warn me of the movie's mediocrity.

My wife and I went to the movies last weekend - one of those pre-multiplex type theaters on Cape Cod.

Not only was there no security, there were only four or five people working there and the girl who sold the tickets also had to tear the tickets, work concessions and for all we know, start the projector. (Which was comically out of focus at times.)

We considered seeing Dark Knight, but the thought of being in a movie theater for three hours with people like zls was a deterrent, so we went to see TED instead.

How many minutes into Ted was it before you started trying to calculate how many minutes were left? I made it about 35 minutes. I would have rather paid my $10, seen the bear tell his 15 jokes in succession and headed to dairy queen. Terrible movie and I usually love terrible movies.

LOL. He is "fortebleedsblue Deluxe".

The Trumbull theater has an odd overall feeling to it... kind of disorienting.

I enjoyed it -- it wasn't a good movie by any stretch, but I laughed.

At this point, any time we can find babysitters and get out to a movie, we're going to grade that movie on a serious curve.

I understand. We've only seen a few date night movies over the last several years. One of them was "Going the Distance" with Drew Barrymore and Christina Applegate. I had no idea what it was about on the way there but I loved it. I laughed harder during that movie than just about anything else in years that wasn't call Hangover. Check it out at at home while the kid is sleeping.

Gald to hear its isolated. The bow-tie cinemas recently had an incident with a lawyer with a gun in North Haven, which could account for this weekend's security.

Went to see Hope Springs; the ultimate chick flick of all times. Movie even had lesbians walking out hugging and holding hands.

Maybe the extra security was to stop men from going in to see that movie. If your relationship is sound you'll get some afterward, but if it sucks consider yourself warned!

Was there a Tommy Lee Jones butt shot? That should garner a horror genre description.

Couldn't tell his face has so many cracks it could have been his ass. He should play the stone man in the next fantastic 4 next. No makeup needed.

The only problem with this type of security is what the hell are they checking for? Guns? They try to prevent someone win a gun from entering who is allowed to carry the republican party would come down on them like they are against chick fil a. Once you let people with guns in, what the hell is the point? Ah, it is just theater, like the TSA and other nonsense.
