I visited last year for an afternoon & the wife plus 6 yr old want to make a few trips this year. Any suggestions for an 1-2 night hotel stay & drive back to CT.

Where do you like to eat in the Westerly/Narrg. area? Friends enjoy the Coast Guard House & we ate at Aunt Carries last year but it was a longer ride than we expected & a little overated. Cakes sandy enough to break a molar.
Just another option to consider. My wife and I stay at Fox Tower at Foxwoods Casino. Has big outdoor pool. Pequot Tower Hotel used to have indoor pool and we took my kids there when young. You can get a room at Foxwoods for half of what the beach motels cost during the week.
About 20+ min ride to Misqum. We park in the private lots close to beach near RV park and water slide and rides for $15.
My wife can and have stayed on beach all day.
Have gone to Watch Hill beach too. Like Misqum much better.

Hankster is Fisherman's in Narragansett booked?

Fishermen's Memorial State Park
Booked solid Mau. I didn't know it was there, however, booked solid. Actually they have a couple of sections. Section 2 is under construction. Then in a few months Section 1 will be. So,maybe that is why. There are only 1 section for big RV's with full hook ups. Many state parks do not have sewer has a hook up. Including Georgia.
For a couple of years now I wanted to camp in RI. I will make a reservation for next year. I understand Fishermans is a popular place.

Camped there once years ago a nice family spot closer to Galileo area but certainly not far from Scarborough Beach and other Narragansett stops. Good luck finding a place.

Go to Crazy Burger for brunch. The place is fantastic, and despite its name, is a great spot for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. And BYOB.

Yes, great for breakfast or lunch. Family favorite.

Bluebird Cafe in Narragansett is also excellent for breakfast. Another family favorite.

We hit each of these and the Mist each vacation. And Brickleys usually more than once.

How about just staying in Newport? Go to second beach

Restaurants galore, just use your favorite search engine

Plenty of places to stay can be found on VRBO

Ahh Idaho, The Mist, good call. Not really with a 6 year old but if you want a great view in an old bar with really underrated food then DI is correct. I have a spot in the summer about 200 yards from that and The Pub (the owner of the Mist finally bought this also for a side to side venue, they are redoing the kitchen as we speak and will be ready soon). He also bought the restaurant across the street which several people have tried to make work but failed, and he is opening Matunuck Pizza Pie Company one of which he has on Block Island. Matunuck is a fun little spot no doubt, with Westerly 10-12 minutes south and Naragansett about 5-6 minutes north.

And GEM, you really need to try breakfast at the Ocean Mist when it is much better for the family. Their breakfast is tremendous and get there early and grab a table outside with the surf running below. With a little luck you may even saw mau there with his better half lol

The Nordic sounded like a nice novelty to check out, but at $98 per adult, I’d rather eat somewhere exceptional. Now, if someone can actually tell me the food is exceptional, then I’m in for a visit.

I just won’t eat much more than I would at any other restaurant, so the price is high. I could get a nice steak and a lobster tail for $50-$70 at all kinds of nice restaurants that won’t leave me feeling like I’m part of a herd of obese sport eaters. I’ve reached a point in life where eating just because I can results in bloating, guilt, heartburn and gas. Now, I’m not being a snob, I’ll just be in the bar drinking my calories because, frankly, I like to.

We're in Carpenters about 150-200 yards away and we have the time to figure out which one to go to if we stay in the area. During the day never an issue for The Mist but you are correct most of the nights we elect to hit The Pub plus the open air on the roof is usually nice too for a few cocktails.

My wife is the same way. While I agree with your idea of I can get what i want to eat for 30-50 bucks at a real nice restaurant and there are plenty. But I would love to try it, but it would be with the boys as she said no way she can't eat even close to half of the asking price so why even try? I guess she has a point, but between the shrimp, lobster and King crab legs I think I can make a run LOL

I’d go for it with a few buddies if everyone else wanted to, but your wife is right. It is very deflating to have a couple drinks, go in for a $98 feast and then find myself stuffed after my first plate. I’d hate to pay for my whole family to go and have that happen. I’d say it’s best done when you are solo as far as the tab goes.

$98 to eat...sounds like a tax on people who are bad at gluttony math?
Wonder how many come out saying, "that was worth it"?

Hey Idaho this is really good corn? I will need to find it this summer thanks
There is a farm stand on Matunuck Beach Rd. Good stuff. Other things too. The two farms we get our corn are Carpenter's and Whittles in Groton. If I'm anywhere near there I pick it up at the stand but usually I get it at the two Mcquades Markets.
