OT: Michigan basketball coaching search is speeding up

Pitino would certainly take the job but I doubt PC has the cajones to do it. St John’s didn’t.

Slick Rick would be a smooth hire for them. Put the godfather back on Federal Hill for one last run. Providence would be electric.

Thats our rockstar!

I think Cooley is okay but his ceiling isn’t anywhere close to Beilein’s. It would make me really happy if this was another UCLA situation hire (if it happens).

A mediocre NBE coach is the best Michigan can do? They need to hire a real athletic director.

Is this $6M number real?
Scary if true since we’ll have to pay Hurley even more if he starts winning. This seems like a weak hire by Michigan only because they are Michigan. One of the top brands in college athletics, a top 15 team each of the last couple of years, etc.... they’re hiring a quality coach but he’s not worth more than 3-4 million per year and he has done nothing other than make the tourney a few years. I’m mad right now if I’m a wolverine fan.

I respect the PC program. I like Ed Cooley as a coach.

Warde Manuel is an all time clown show.

Some of the deepest pockets in all of college sports and have been tremendously successful the past few years, and the best they can do is Cooley? I don't think he's a bad coach, but it's certainly a bad hire

I wonder if they'll keep Luke Yaklich on staff. They say he's the mastermind of their defense.

It's a tough time of the year to find an immediate replacement. Beilein wasn't considered an elite hire, and he replaced Tommy Amaker.

When in the post Dana Barros world did Boston College have it rolling.

I wonder if Cooley would have been Manual's choice for UConn if KO hadn't have been forced on him.

Something had to happen behind the scenes with Beilein right? He just had his 2 best years, signed a contract extension, michigan was returning a great team and he leaves for the CAVS? at his age? who have no shot at being competitive for a few years. Something doesn’t add up. Any rumors as to what happened?
