I'm not supposed to drink for medical reasons but I did sneak a cup of egg nog with a liberal dollop of Eagle Rare. It was glorious. Can't wait for next year!

I have no issue with Basil Hayden. It's often what I'll order in a drink at a bar. But I hate the top of the label!

I also dislike really tall bottle. Basil Hayden (in Alien's pic) is fine, but the extra long bottles don't fit well in my cabinet.

I'll admit that the bottle can impact my choice. I just bought a bottle of Hemingway Rye. Beautiful bottle where the word RYE is spelled out in old typewriter keys.

This is from the first batch Litchfield Distillery ever made. I went on a tour over the holidays and showed it to one of the three brothers who owns the distillery (giving the tour) and he joked it's a collectors item. Originally they called their whiskey Krofters and then realized they would have no brand recognition/identity and they renamed themselves.

If you're in the state of CT Litchfield Distillery is worth checking out. They give free tours every single day which ends with a free tasting where you can basically try all their selections. They are small pours but it probably adds up to three shots worth, I think I tried around 10 different selections. Our tour was pretty packed and he asked everyone where they're from and since it was around the holidays there were two other groups from Chicago, people from Texas, Washington, Colorado, Philly etc.

You get a sense of how long and arduous a process it all is and how serious the equipment is used in the process. They have to place their orders years ahead of time for the equipment and it comes from Germany.

Not a whiskey.... but CT distilled by friends of mine. Their krupnikas came out in 2023 and this Quince just two months ago. Tasty and unique...

Bought two. There wasn't any additional shipping charge for a second bottle so it seemed like a waste of money to only buy one.
Unless it sucks. Has anybody actually opened one of these yet?

Lol. Mrs. Diesel asked if it's any good. She said ask those internet friends if it's worth it. I told her no matter how it tastes I'll be able to drink at least one of them with mixers and then the other can stay on a shelf for perpetuity.

I got a couple bottles of the one that the OP posted. Got it before the Storrs Central one launched. I'm assuming it's going to taste fine (MGP, 99 proof, 6 years old), but not worth $93 + shipping (divided over a couple bottles). But we're just getting these for the bottle (and supporting NIL for the Storrs Central version).
