She resigned as HC of Wisconsin. Apparently she is being accused of mistreatment by a former player.

For UCONN fans--Serah Williams is a rising senior at UW with WNBA potential. She's a 6-4 shot blocking center who was Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2024. She would be a top transfer if she enters the portal. If she does enter, I wouldn't be shocked at all to see her wind up at UCONN for her last season as she prepares for the WNBA. She's from Brooklyn and has the Moseley-UCONN connection.

Some game logs from this season:
vs. UCLA (Lauren Betts): 22 points, 5 rebounds
vs. USC (Rayah Marshall/Kiki Iriafen): 19 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks
vs. Ohio State (Ajae Petty): 20 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists
vs. Iowa (Hannah Stuehkle): 22 points, 5 rebounds, 5 blocks, 3 steals
vs. Iowa (Hannah Stuehkle): 18 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists

I thought she was great here at Uconn, and she seemed to do well in Boston, and thought she might have her name in the ring for the succession plan.

I think it is really tough for coaches to take on power 5/4 coaching jobs for perennial cellar dwelling teams. Unless you hit a couple of home runs in recruiting, the lifting is just too much, and now with transfer portal you aren't given a whole lot of time, even if you get a star in the making.

Next year the Huskies have:
6-6 Gandy Malou-Mamel
6-5 Jana El-Alfy
6-3 Ice Brady
6-2 Ayanna Patterson
and the positionless, and peerless, 6-2 Sarah Strong.

Of that group, Sarah is the only reliable one. While I expect progress from Ice and Jana, I don't expect either of them to be any more than solid role players (at least not next year). Ayanna will have a lot of rust to shake off, and while Gandy has a high ceiling (at 6'6" she needs one just to stand up straight) I don't expect her to be a major contributor as a freshman.

So it's Sarah and 4 question marks. If we can get an established player from the portal as reinforcement, that would be a positive IMHO.

Dorka, as terrific as she was, needed most of her first year to unlearn the Ohio State way and to learn UConn’s more disciplined offense and defense. A transfer from the portal might be able to step right in, especially one from Geno’s coaching tree like Kaitlyn, but there’s no guarantee a transfer is at UConn’s level from day 1

Geno isn't going to run an offense that has two post players. If Paige and Azzi both go to the W then I would expect him to find a good shooter with a little size similar to Sarah and let the bigs they have develop. But I didn't expect him to take a guard for this team and it has worked out.

Geno has frequently run a two towers offense. Kara and Rebecca is the earliest instance of it. Steph and Stewie. Liv and Aaliyah. Dorka and Aaliyah. Liv and Dorka.

The only question I can see is whether he’d run an offense with Sarah as a wing. If he would, it might be a revelation for Jana to play next to a seasoned veteran post for one season. For Ice, too.
