Side note, I'm totally going to buy another couple Mega Millions tickets. The first $2 down the drain felt so good.

I heard on the radio today that if you won the $450+ million and took a lump sum you'd get a little over $180 million after taxes. Using that number and toying around with some numbers I came up with this.

If you spent $10K every day it would take 50 years before you blow through $180 million.

Of course, if you spend $10k a day but generate a mere 2% on the principal, you wouldn't even be touching the principal and it would last forever.

Just to keep you out of jail, you can not "make" them do something with money. You "get" them to do something with money. Important distinction.

I'd have to cut back a little, but I'd get by with $180 million.

I might even find it in my heart to compensate Rutgers for their lost home game. On second thought......they can go f themselves.

Hahaha yes! +100000000

Pretty unbelievable, after taxes (if only one winner) the lump sum take will be more than $1/4 billion (yes, with a b).

If I win, half of the take will go to UConn as an endowment to the athletic department. I'll earmark the specifics on some of the returns (to cover scholarships, recruiting expenses and coaching salaries for various sports we need a better presence) and if there is any remaining annual earnings, the school can devote those anywhere within the department they choose.

Also, if Rutty is so determined to get some money back for this season's schedule I'll offer them $5 million. All they will need to do is move their home game against UConn to the Rent.

A staggering amount of money. After setting up my extended family, & squaring away retirement plans, a generous gift to UConn athletics, the School of Pharmacy, Bread for Life (Southington's local food pantry because NO ONE SHOULD GO HUNGRY-EVER!), various veteran's groups in honor of their service to keep us safe, & a few other causes that are personal favorites.

I was talking about this with a co-worker this morning. Can you imagine the stress involved in finding trustworthy people to manage that much dough?

640 million... if I win... I'll give 100 million to UConn to upgrade Hockey and to start men's and women's LAX. I'll then give the rest to someone who needs it... me. :D

<p> And Washington DC can do that in a year... and Hartford, too.

Got my ticket today, and if I win I am doing all of the money necessary to give UConn the top baseball facility in the country. Coach Penders' program deserves a brand new stadium, training facility, the works. Also some of the money will go towards making sure that Coach Penders will never leave the UConn baseball program for greener pastures down south
