A spokeswoman for the Nye County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that an ambulance had been sent to Hof’s Love Ranch brothel near Las Vegas and that Odom had been treated by paramedics and stabilized before he was taken to the Desert View Hospital.

Odom was initially going to be transported to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas by helicopter but because of his height he could not be transported by air. Instead he was transported to the Las Vegas hospital by ambulance<<

Lamar Odom committed to UConn in 1996.

He visited right at the end of the first signing period and UConn believed they had him.

Fortunately, as things turned out, he had also committed to UNLV and Kentucky.

When he actually announced for UNLV, Calhoun and Pitino were shocked. Personally, I thought he went to UNLV because he didn't think he was going to qualify. And...shenanigans. (A Vegas booster was paying him.)

He had a lot of demons then and apparently still does.

Odom was blessed with amazing basketball talent but it's been one hell of a tough road for him. He lost his mom when he was a kid and his dad has been a crack addict Lamar's whole life, Lamar also lost his son. With his basketball career coming to a close his life seemed to spiral out of control with Lamar developing a crack problem, maybe he always had the problem but his talent just disguised it. I wonder if anything would have been different had Lamar had Jim Calhoun in his life instead of Bayno and Jim Harrick. After Dave Bliss I'm not sure there has ever been a bigger scumbag in the college game than Jim Harrick.

Depends on aircraft configuration and whether it's side loading or rear loading. North of 6-10 can be a problem if they must remain supine. Girth and weight restrictions are more common/frequent than height.

Air ambulances helicopters are typically based on smaller, civilian helicopters that seat 6 people (pilot + 1 and then 4 passengers in 2 rows). I see them all of the time in Lower Manhattan. They are not military medical helicopters, which are based on the much lager Sikorsky BlackHawk. Thus, the patient is crammed into the space behind the pilot where the 2 rows of seats usually are. Add in medical equipment and the 2 medical responders and what's left for the patient is limited. I was in one once (on the ground, demonstration) and can vouch that it's a tight fit.

If you were a famous dude looking for a few days of paid fun it's pretty likely you wouldn't choose to have that fun in a trailer park whorehouse in the Nevada desert. If you're a self-destructive drug addict it's a different story.

When Odom was at Redemption I watched him play pickup a couple times. I was standing on the baseline when he caught a lob that had to be thrown from the other free throw line. Still one of the most absurd plays I've ever seen.

Good dude who's had a hell of a tough life. I hope he pulls through and figures it out.
