End of an Era! Jean and Carroll O'connor were great together. So much childhood memories. RIP Jean! Hopefully you and Carroll are in a better place! She was 90 so lived a great long life! She played her role opposite Carroll so well as "Dingbat". She was the sweetest tv mom.

....Buutt Awchie!!!!

She had a nails-on-chalkboard voice--only Fran Drescher could outdo her.

Wow I just was wondering a few days ago, where she was these days. Now I know.

RIP!

Her character on All in the Family was played to perfection. My all time favorite line had to be, "Archie, I'm a klepper!"

Now please don't let this thread spiral down into something along the golden girls theme in the other thread.

I said to someone else tonight, I don't know if another tv actor/actress got more out of a single role then Jean Stapleton did as Edith. She milked every drop possible from that "dingbat" character.

All in the Family was a staple in my house. I can remember watching it on our first color TV that had something like a 27 inch "hidden" screen but was HUGE because it also housed a "victrola", speakers and what seemed like 100's of cutting edge glass tubes.

I also remember loving Edith as a little boy because she was so harmless and kind, yet strong. I know exactly where I was sitting when I realized what the "rape episode" was about. Lost a bit of my innocence that night.

So, I'm the only one here who, while coming to terms with his maturation, fantacized about her?

I'm guessing yes. For me it was Weezy Jefferson. :(

If I had a time machine, I would go back and mail you all a Heather Locklear poster or something just so that the future me didn't have to read these threads.

The Golden Girls? Archie Bunker's wife? If nothing else, you kids were troopers.

I only wrist-wrestled to Rue when I slept in the basement because basic cable was as close to an ipad you could find.

However, I stared at this poster when I went to bed every night for almost 7 years:

I never saw it again after I left for college.

I like to think it had so much DNA on it that it grew legs and is living happily on a houseboat in Newport, RI.

I don't know about DNA, but this one went up in the 4th grade and I've never been the same since:

You're both weird. For me it was Shirley Partridge, hotter than her daughter Laurie.

Wow I started this thread to pay homage to Icon of our younger years and see this thread has turned into a "Hottest Poster Girl Thread". Your gotta to love the Boneyard.
