I’d say our number of fans was second in terms of gear that I saw walking around. But it’s essentially a home game for the Nittany Lions for sure. Going to be a tough game but we did look good. Tung is a stud. Rather than going to the bench during timeouts, he turns and kneels on the ice between the circles. Not sure if he’s meditating, praying or what but it was pretty cool to see.
Fortunately hockey is probably the least impactful of all the sports, when it comes to home ice advantage, we have also had games where we have started out very flat in Hartford and in Storrs, so it can work against you too. It's not like we're going onto Penn States campus and we have a game in already in Allentown, so already have that familiarity with the arena.

Maybe Tung is trying to get off his feet when he can, either way that sounds pretty cool. Tung needs to get the start tomorrow. Have confidence in Muzelik as well but gotta go with the hot hand.

Crazy thing is that Penn State straight up billionaired its way into hockey. Guy wanted a hockey program and now they have one.

Can't get a soul to go to a basketball game but flip a switch and they're nuts for hockey.
The best thing about that conference is ND finished last this year at 4-19-1.

Just curious because I don't follow closely enough. Quinnipiac is in the ECAC and Merrimack in Hockey East. Was Quinnipiac considered for Hockey East? Merrimack seems out of place.

These games are so up and down on any given night some of these teams just look like crap. I thought Maine was the better team, and they came out all cocky and chippy, and Penn State just said we are just gonna be faster and skate around you. Penn State absolutely blitzed them with speed. Not a big hockey guy but it's fun watching UConn. Hoping maybe Penn State wore themselves out a bit last night.

Merrimack has been in Hockey East longer than Quinnipiac has been D1 - I think they’ve been in since the late 80s. QU went D1 in the late 1990s and was invited to the ECAC after Vermont left to join Hockey East.

Merrimack was a members of Hockey East since 1989. They have played high level hockey for decades while QU was D3.

There has been talk that QU has been approached about becoming the 12th member of Hockey East, but I don’t know if that is true. Supposedly they prefer the ECAC as an easier path to the tournament. Again, rumor, not fact.

It could be UConn, UMass, BC, and BU fighting it out in St. Louis.

Boston U is in and UMass is tied in the third period.

I am pretty sure they’re good with the ECAC. Solid league, associated with the Ivies and just a much easier path every year. But it would not surprise me if both sides at least kicked the idea around a little.

UConn vs Penn St today at 4:30.

Several members of my extended family attended Penn St, so I have mixed feelings about this game.

I want UConn to win because it would be great for the school and the team. But I also want Penn St to lose so I can rub it in my families faces for the next year.

I understand the Penn State sentiment. I have an annoying in-law who graduated from Penn State.

Go UConn.

LOL. I’m not sure you know what “mixed feelings” means, but good thoughts nonetheless.

BU was fortunate to advance. Cornell outworked them for long stretches of the game. Cornell just tenacious and disciplined—impressive to watch. BU just has some future pros that can make special plays.
