ot: highlander vs pilot..?suv

I've owned Honda and Toyota products and I don't think you could go wrong with either, but I really like Honda products. My one caution would be to not buy late model used of either brand simply because they hold price so well that new ones are a better buy.

We bought a car a month or two ago and drove both. (Did not buy either - went with something a little less utilitarian and more to my wife's liking. Imagine that.)
Honestly, they were both really nice. I preferred the Highlander, but that was more aesthetic than anything else. My brother in law has had a Pilot for several years and to the best of my knowledge has enjoyed it.

Check your math. That would leave 864 seconds per day for sex, or 14.4 minutes. If you're in good shape, figure 8 for the sex and 5 for the b---j-- and a minute and a half for the cigarrette.
Seriously folks, which would you buy, if either, if you knew gasoline would be 6-10 bucks a gallon in 12 months?

2011, they had some problems in the past with the transmission and definitely look at getting the under coating for rust or ask if it is used if it got the coating.

If you are really looking for a SUV, neither. If you are looking for a crossover family vehicle that has AWD, either. I'm partial to Hondas, having owned a few and never being disappointed.
You might also check out the new Ford Explorer, 2011 or later, and see how that suits you. Very nice upgrade in the design imo. I haven't owned an American automobile since college, and have owned several Japanese and German cars since, but I am looking at the new Explorer for my next vehicle. And as corny as it sounds, the fact that it is American is a factor. Not the only factor, but by my observation the quality is there and I am once again willing to give it a try.

Depends on your need although I tend to agree with 8893 on the crossover versus suv comment. American iron gets a bad rap and I'm not purely an American car guy. Hell I had a rover ( yes i know rover is British) that i bought new that was going fine at 150k before I got tired of it and needed something bigger and they are known as turds. I'm also the guy that when I'm told I'll need something in 3 months or 3000 miles I just tell them to do it now why prolong it.
I've got Chevy full size SUVs, ford and Chevy pick-ups, BMW cars and a vintage Toyota truck and it's all about the same from a reliability standpoint, except the land cruiser is the only one I can actually work on if need be. So get what suits you as they likely have the same reliability, so probably an issue of aesthetics and interior layout and comfort.
After all the talk and comparative, do the smart thing and get whatever the wife wants.

The Pilot is the better off road vehicle, if you care. They beefed up its ability in the most recent redesign. All things considered I would take the Pilot but the Highlander has one key option that I love in an suv, second row captains chairs. That makes the third row much more user friendly.

My wife just bought the 2011 Mazda CX9 after looking at all of the mentioned......she did a lot of homework, drove them all and figured this to be the best of the bunch. Not sure what it's worth but she's pretty picky and anal (?) and the car performs real nice and looks great too......fully loaded the price was decent to in comparison to others with everything!!
