We've all seen them. Those high school and college graduates who decorate their mortarboards so their family and friends can spot them in the crowd, or to say something about themselves. Most are pretty low tech.

But not my son. Oh no. Nothing as simple as glitter or painted words. He went all out high tech. His weighed two pounds. It included a 12 volt battery powering LED lighting to back light laser etched clear acrylic. It was pretty epic and awesome. It speaks to his total nerdiness - and creativity.

Correct. BS = Bachelor of Science, CS = Computer Science. TW is his first and last initials.
My son started 4 years ago in Computer Science. Decided against it after the first semester. (didn't like the hours and hours of coding without human interaction - and he is a real people person, so it probably wouldn't have worked for him) Switched over to Economics, which he loves. Graduates this Friday from UMASS. 3 job offers, all back in the computer field. Go figure. (one is at a bank though, soooo??)

Oh yea, by the way congrats!

Meyers, congrats to you as well! Sometimes life comes full circle despite your best intentions! So much is driven by computers these days that a lot of students who didn't major in computing or software engineering end up in something related to computers.

The GT CompSci program is not geared toward individual projects. Few projects are done solo, almost all are done in teams, because that is how they will have to work when they hit the real world. I was very impressed with the GT College of Computing from the first visit during the college campus tour to the final send off by the Dean of the College of Computing who affectionately referred to his graduates as "geeks and nerds". My son is also a people person and thrived in the program.
