Playing Wiltwyck, a Robert Trent Jones course near Hudson, N.Y. tomorrow. Anyone ever play it?
Tater Hill was once upon a time my wife's cousin's potato farm. Literally no one knows what Vail is going to do with it shut down. There is no sign yet that they intend to sell it or develop it.
Which course? We played Legacy yesterday morning...rain on the first hole but nice the rest of the morning!Beautiful day yesterday in Florida. Humidity was low enough I didn't have to change out gloves once the whole round. Almost found a cloud in the horizon.

Legacy in Bradenton? If so, I was about 500 miles from there in northwest Florida.Which course? We played Legacy yesterday morning...rain on the first hole but nice the rest of the morning!
Mask in areas where you can’t socially distance... depending on where you play you may be able to get separate carts. If not they’ll have some kind of policy like not switching drivers and wearing the mask when in the cart together ...Not much of a golfer but a buddy is inviting me next week. What’s the protocol in CT...mask or no mask?

I played up there twice two weeks ago. I'm worried about their plans for it long term, but it's hard to judge them this year when if you're from Metro NY you still can't get up there legally without taking a covid test. But the course itself looked and played perfectly normal (except that rains had been heavy and the ball wouldn't roll). I love the course because it's not at all long, but if you either don't know what you're doing or you're not playing well, you can score big.

My buddy lives in Londonderry and all the good gossip comes out of Mike & Tammys Main Street Deli in the mornings. Local buzz is Vail didn't buy it to sell it, most definitely will be developed. What everyone is afraid of is it will be so exclusive that the locals can't get out when they want. Tater Hill wasn't the best maintained track but it was theirs and they got to enjoy it or walk on whenever they wanted.
I think you're right on Meadowbrook in Hamden. Also had a par 3 right on the main road which was like Whitney or Dixwell? That was a dump. Sleeping Giant was kind of fun although needed a hard hat for a few of the holes, or all. Also Laurel View in Hamden was a decent track back in the day but heard it's gone to hell.
Sleeping Giant also had a nice bar with some good nightlife back in the day as well. I believe a Mexican place who's name escapes me, but on certain nights it was a talented place to visit.
Back in the day it was H.L. Wilfreds , now it's Aunt Chiladas.
Played TPC once, about 2-3 weeks after the Travelers, and it was hard as a rock. Couldn’t hold any greens. With the recent rains, the rough can be brutal. Gives you an appreciation for what pros can do.Played TPC River Highlands last week. I hit every fairway and still didn’t shoot my career low. The greens were super fast, protected all around, and the rough was ROUGH. Overall an enjoyable round though. Way more fun than Fox Hopyard. You gotta be insane to play that place twice. No fun at all.
Totally. Have you ever played Fox Hopyard? I was expecting a similar experience at TPC, but The Hopyard was brutal. Unless you shoot par, I don't see how that place gets any return customers.Played TPC once, about 2-3 weeks after the Travelers, and it was hard as a rock. Couldn’t hold any greens. Honestly, the fairways at TPC are hard to miss. And we played white tees, so that helps. There's zero carry on any tee shot (Unlike Hopyard, with carries of death - lol). TPC does protect scores with long rough and tough greens. I gained so many strokes off the tee, and lost them all back, and then some, around the greens. The par 3's are not that tough either. Overall it's a really fun round, especially if you're a big fan of the Travelers and attend regularly like myself. And yes, Hopyard is both overpriced and rated - I will not be back. Not a fan of the Hopyard overpriced and rated. Has some great holes but too many crappy ones.
TPC playing in a couple weeks always enjoy it. You hit all the fairways? WTH how many you giving me?
I'm playing 36 holes at Manchester CC in Vermont on Friday. Anyone every played that course? Playing Okemo on Saturday and always have a blast there.
Nicest course I played on in the area is Aspetuck Valley. Nicest course I ever played on period is the US Military course in Heidelberg Germany.Looking for suggestions for public golf courses to take my crew. We live in the Northwest Corner and have played Lyman Orchards, Tunxis, Simsbury Farms, Fairview, Stonybrook, Candlewood, Blue Fox Run, Greenwood’s, Canaan, Hotchkiss and are scheduled to play Wintonbury Hills next weekend. Always lookiing for new fun places to play.
Love Ledges. Kinda wacky layout, but I would go back many times.Oxford greens by the airport is a good track. 2nd hole is a phenomenal par 3. The Springfield municipals Franconia and Veterans are well kept though I would lean more toward Veterans. Ledges in South Hadley is very fun.
By the way, please report on how Manchester CC is. I've played the Equinox course there -- I think it's run by Troon -- but never Manchester CC.

BL, Manchester CC is beautiful and one of the most well maintained courses I’ve played in a while. That being said, it’s not really in the mountains like Okemo is so it doesn’t offer the views or Uphill/downhill holes either. I’d play it again in a heart beat but if I had to chose, I’d play Okemo.
Update on Tater Hill is that Vail is open to selling it.
It’s a nice old style country club. Nothing overly special but a good course and used to host the old GHO pre-TPCAnyone here ever play Wethersfield Country Club? A friend of mine has a certificate to play there and playing there in a couple of weeks. I know nothing about it.
heard it’s a bit of a dump from a friend. Not surprising - considering it is Wethersfield.Anyone here ever play Wethersfield Country Club? A friend of mine has a certificate to play there and playing there in a couple of weeks. I know nothing about it.
Would be a good time to playNot a fan of the Hopyard overpriced and rated. Has some great holes but too many crappy ones.

That was where I learned to golf as a teenager. It was a good semi-public course back in the late 70's and early 80's. I'm sure that doesn't help you now. My recollection would be not up to most nicer private courses, better than most purely public/municipal courses.
Edit: Nevermind was thinking Manchester CT CC.
