13. Special Watergate Prosecutor Archibald Cox subpoenaed Nixon's White House tapes, Nixon refused. Nixon ordered Attorney General Elliott Richardson to fire Cox. Richardson refused and resigned in protest. Nixon then ordered Assistant AG William Ruckelshaus to fire Cox. Ruckelshaus, like Richardson, refused and resigned in protest. Nixon then ordered Solicitor General Robert Bork to fire Cox. Bork complied. All in one night.

Robert Bork was then named AG and he did Nixon's bidding. It cost Bork a seat on the Supreme Court a decade or so later.
