@coachingsearch: I'm surprised. A source tells me the UCONN job is not going to Pete Lembo. Warde Manuel has something up his sleeve.

@jacobscourant: Hearing it's NOT Pete Lembo folks. But something is shaking hot.
@jacobscourant: My sources say definitely NOT Lembo.

Dan Mullen, come on down!!!!

Personally didn't want Lembo, wanted a guy with some big program experience, so this is good to hear.

The football board is in total meltdown mode. The tweet that WM has something up his sleeve are keeping our football brothers up all night.

Someone in his introductory press conference better ask him his thoughts about escalators.

"How many toes do you have and how many of those are you willing to commit to dipping?"

Diaco...Great pick.

I don't follow UConn FB - disappointed to hear its a defensive guy. The game is all about offense now. Look how the Sec went from games like 14-10 to 52-45 after adding guys like Malzahn, Sumlin, etc.

Glad to hear young and energetic, fb is reason we're in the AAC.

It would be nice if you did follow UConn football (all UConn fans really should follow all sports the school participates in).

It's a win-win for me......grew up an ND fan and still follow them somewhat but not enough to know that much about Diaco......I love what I'm reading and hearing about this guy......and as you say I do follow UConn football because of my love for the hoops team since the late 60's.......this is a very exciting time after the PP experiment.

Kudos, exactly, how do you go to UConn and not follow all sports. It drives me nuts that my buddies from back at UConn only talk up the basketball team and really don't get into the football team. Got to bleed blue and white for all sports.

Love that dude interviewed for the BC job last year. Young, hungry for the opportunity, and confident that he can do work in the Northeast. This is really all we wanted in our new coach as far as foundational character goes. He very well may lead us in to a power conference.

Some of UConn's biggest fans never took a class at UConn so to assume everyone would love every sport is a little much to ask. Now if indeed they were at UConn I would expect they would be a football fan whether it was the days of Memorial Stadium or now at the Rent.

Watching this guys presser he is Ten Toes In.....so much KO in him it's unbelievable......if you didn't have a few tears in him and believe he can turn this thing around you weren't listening!

I guess I was hallucinating when Bama was winning three championships in 4 years behind their defense (beating teams like LSU and ND who were also built on Defense).

Those offensive teams like A&M, Ohio State and Oregon really have been holding that crystal ball up a lot recently...........

Your post should be you do not follow football, not you do not follow Uconn FB

He reminds me more of Geno than KO. That's probably not a bad thing and probably a better personality fit for the football team. His commitment, drive, and dedication seems to be on par with KO. Time will tell.

Boy u guys r really pissing in the Cheerios types.

The SEC in 2013 is a brand new league. LSU used to win 13-10 now they have a terrific offense. Auburn, A&M etc. great offenses. I live in sEC country so I know a bit about it. Georgia scores a lot. Mizzou, et al. Do they still have good D's, of course, nfl studs r everywhere. But u better have an offense w u because u have to score in that league and the league used to b far lower scoring just a few years ago and with Sumlin and Malzahn on board the league has absolutely changed.

I have never lived in Connecticut I'm from Donyell Marshall's hometown that's how I started watching and following. I root for UConn FB but have never followed.

I'm not trying to argue w anyone but clearly u guys want to argue. Just saying offensive guys r the way to go as the game is opened up more and more thanks to innovative play calling and restraining defensive violence.

That said I'm thrilled they went w young, energetic guy w good pedigree.

Easy rip, we ain't in the SEC. And Diaco comes in with a tag of running a bend-don't-break defense. That's okay with me as watching opponent FGs is better than watching balls getting spiked.

On offense...every team worth a can run the ball or pass respectively. No need to worry there. We have Casey Cochran and Tim Boyle at the helm with a troupe of WRs that that actually like to catch the ball. And Arkeel Newsome is coming!!
